We all decided it would be best to go back home and rest. After all, we got what we came for. Information and answers, though I do believe we were left with more questions than initially.
Carlos went to Bruno and Camilo and I parted ways once we reached his room.
"Good night" I whispered to him as I opened my door.
"Night, Y/n."
~
Morning rolled around and rays of sunshine filled my room. I squirmed around, throwing the blanket over my head in a futile attempt to go back to sleep.
"Great..." I mumbled to myself. I wanted to sleep in today, but of course, it isn't happening.
I begrudgingly got out of bed and did my morning routine. As I was looking through my wardrobe I heard a knock at the door.
"Y/n? You up?" a soft voice asked and even though I didn't register who it was yet, I let them in.
"Wow, you're a mess." the girl remarks after checking me out from head to toe."Morning to you too, Aria. Need anything?"
"No, but Abuela Alma wants to see you. Don't make her wait long. She's in the kitchen."
"Thanks..." I groaned.
I quickly put on a presentable outfit and headed downstairs, where indeed the old woman was waiting with her arms crossed.
"Good morning." I gingerly say as my eyes lock with hers. If she had been tense before, it was no match for the look of discomfort disfiguring her features now.
"Good morning, Y/n."
"Is everything alright?"
I guess I hadn't realized I had started fiddling with my necklace, something that caught Alma's attention.
"From your father?" she asked sympathetically.
"Oh, uh, yeah. He gave me this before I came here as a gift for my birthday. Anyways, Aria told me you wanted to talk to me?" I was eager to end the conversation and go back to my room as quickly as possible by now.
"Yes. It's about Antonio's gift ceremony that's at the end of the week. If it isn't too much to ask for, could you spend some time with Mirabel? We haven't had a gift ceremony since hers, and I am sure it will be hard for her."
"Oh, yeah, no problem. Leave it to me!"
I turned on my heel to go find Mirabel, but before I headed upstairs, I heard the woman speak up.
"Thank you, Y/n."
I slightly turned around and gave Abuela Alma a quick smile.
~
"Mira, are you here?" I knocked at her door, hearing rustling come from the other side.
"Y/n is that you?!"
"Yup! It's me!"
I was quickly pulled into the room with an almost brutal force.
"What was that for?" I say, rubbing my arm.
With wide eyes, all she could do was point toward her bed.
"Oh, shit..." I muttered as my eyes locked with the person sitting there.
"Hey Y/n..." he delicately waved to me.
"Carlos?! What the fuck!"
"I-She-!"
"So you knew about this and didn't tell me?!" Mirabel shouted at me, obviously both angry and shocked.
"Will you keep it down, please?" I tried calming her down. "We don't exactly want everybody to know about this..."
"I have to go tell Abuela. She'll know what to do with...this!"
"NO!" both me and Carlos suddenly jumped up and grabbed one of Mira's shoulders.
"You can't do that! You'll ruin everything! This isn't in the prophecy!" I whisper yell.
"Actually..." I see Carlos easing his grip on the girl. "It is."
He motions his head in the direction of the bed and I begrudgingly follow his gaze.
"You stole this?!"
"Borrowed." he pointed out, lifting a finger in the air. I just stared at the old scroll in my hands, the last drawing indeed being Mirabel discovering the existence of Carlos.
"Dios Mío..."
~
The four of us were now sitting in a circle in Camilo's room. It was odd having Mirabel know about Carlos, but soothing in a way. She calmed down after we explained everything to her. Well, almost everything. We decided it would be best if we didnt tell her about Bruno just yet.
"So..."she trailed off "what do ya'll plan on doing with this guy?"
"We must wait and find out more about this weird portal he came from, but for now, i think we should focus on Antonio's gift ceremony. It's quite an event." i reply.
"Alright, yeah. You're right."
"Im not going anywhere." Carlos states, leaning back on his elbows.
"Oh yes, you are!" Camilo remarks.
"We'll see about that," I add and then I get up to leave. "Come on Mira, let's go hang out in the town!"
"Heck yeah!" she exclaims, jumping up to leave.
I saw the boys slightly pouting because they were not invited, but I left either way. The rest of the day was filled with laughs and giggles as me and Mirabel talked, ate and spent some time with the kids.
We ended up talking about the upcoming ceremony, and although she looked a little sad while talking about it, she ended up releasing the heavy weight she was carrying on her shoulders by just ranting about her own ceremony and how her life changed after it. Content with it all, we started heading home.
"So, Camilo or Carlos?"
"Hm?"
"Which do you like?"
"They're both my friends Mira. But i guess Camilo cause he's not as bratty."
"Y/n!"
"What...?" i tilt my head in confusion at her sudden outburst.
"When will you stop with the 'he's just a friend' crap? It's getting old!"
"Not this again..." i sigh, pinching the bridge of my nose. "Now's not the time for this. Let's get home."
"Ooh~Someone's blushing."
I stuck my tongue out at her and sped up my pace, matching my hearts alert beating rate.
