27. Another Day

The next day, I went to Professor Snape's office first thing in the morning.

Snape: "I enjoy eating my breakfast alone Ms. Wright"

I ignore him.

O: "It worked! I felt it, my powers!"

Snape: "How did it happen?"

O: "I was in the bath, thinking about nothing, and then suddenly there was this energy, this light, it was inside me and it lit up the whole room. It was so magical I can't describe it"

He looked at me with a face I had never seen before, he seemed genuinely happy for me.

Snape: "Excellent news, your training won't be rigorous since your powers already manifested themselves so quickly. You can rest for now, we will take it slowly"

O: "Thank you professor, really"

I leave his office and head to get breakfast. It was still early so not a lot of people were up. I enter the hall and see Pansy waving at me. I walk over there and sit next to Blaise. Crabbe and Goyle were there but Draco was not. Hopefully he had drowned in his bath.

Pansy: "Hey so Halloween is coming up and we were wondering if you still wanted to come to our party."

O: "Well I did buy an outfit for it, no?"

Pansy: "Yes!! I'm so excited about it"

Blaise: "Yeah we're all very happy you decided to come, we enjoy hanging out with you"

O: "Thanks, I do too"

We all smiled and were happy. I did enjoy being with them, I felt more comfortable and myself than if I was with the Gryffindors.

Pansy: "Okay, well we'll get ready together, we need to get matching nails for sure, I know a spell just perfect for that, we can also do a skin care routine the night before, I'm sure I can find a way to sneak you in Slytherin no?"

Draco: "Sneak who in Slytherin?"

Draco appears and sits in front of me next to Pansy. I felt the tension become more awkward, please don't say anything suspicious.

Pansy: "It's about O, how will she come to our common room without being spotted?"

Draco: "I'm sure she will be fine now that she's a prefect"

Blaise: "Wait what?"

O: "Yeah Snape made me a prefect I guess"

Blaise: "Oh okay"

Yesterday Draco didn't question Snape making me a prefect and now Blaise. What do they know that I don't?

Pansy: "How do you know about this Draco?"

Oh no, please don't say that we ran into each other at the bath.

Draco: "I'm a prefect Pansy, I know these types of things"

He looks straight at me while taking a bite of an apple.

I felt a shiver go through my body.

Pansy acknowledges and we leave the subject, thank god.

The day goes by fast and I spend the evening in the library with Hermione and Harry.

O: "Where's Ron?"

Hermione: "Not where he should be clearly, we have a lot of homework for tomorrow"

I look around pensieve. I wasn't too concentrated on my work, I was thinking about my powers, my mom, my interaction with Draco last night, and Snape being so nice to me.

Hermione: "What's up?"

I couldn't talk to them about all these things so I decided to only talk about my mom.

O: "I received a letter from my mom. She's become too sick."

I struggle to continue as I can sense the tears coming up. I choke up the following words.

O: "She told me goodbye"

Hermione: "I'm so sorry O"

Harry: "Is there anything we can do?"

O: "No, I just want to get things off my mind for a bit, but thanks"

It had been a bunch of eventful days. I had torned feelings between the gryffindors and slytherins, a start of feelings for George, my powers coming up and my mother being so ill. There were a lot of emotions. I don't know if I was feeling so emotional now because of my powers or if this was normal. So many thoughts through my mind, all I want is that Halloween party. I know it will do me some good.
