Jason
The following morning (we can only assume it was the next day considering there was no night and day in Tartarus), we got ready for battle. We didn't have much left of our supplies, only about half a days worth but it didn't matter seeing as today would be our last day here, whether we were alive or dead in the end was only up to us.
"Today's it, we finally get to go home" said Percy. I looked over at Chris, who had a grim expression on his face. "Don't worry, you'll get home" I said placing a hand on his shoulder.
Chris looked up at me. "Thats just it, I don't know what home I'm going back to". I pursed my lips. "If it makes you feel better, I don't know either. Pretty soon after I get home, you'll be born and gods know how I'll deal with that" I said with a smile.
"We need to get moving, the monsters are beginning to get in formation to leave, the doors are beginning to open" said Percy. We all hurried over to the ledge as we all peered over at the sea of monsters.
"What the hell are we going to do?" I muttered staring at the blockade before us. "The hell if I know" Percy said.
"Demigods?" screached a voice from behind us. The three of us whirled around to see 3 furies surrounding us. "Oh hell naw!" cried Percy as he chucked his sword at the biggest one, stabbing it right in the chestfor it to reduce to a pile of ashes.
I lunged at the middle one, Chris right behind me going after the other. I struck the fury hard and fast, slicing its wings clean off, Chris doing the same. Percy came from behind and finished off the two of them with one flick of his sword. Percy sort of has a thing for the suckers.
"Guys, I have an idea" said Chris, who was staring at the wings that somehow managed not to crumble into a pile of dust.
Next thing you know, I've got nasty ass fury wings strapped to my back pack, along with Percy who was clutched to me like a baby sloth. Chris flew by next to me as we soared over the crowds of monsters.
We were about 100 yards away from the door when suddenly, the wind got even worse than before. You could barely breathe with the amount of sulfur in the air. There was no way Chris or I could continue to fly, we plummeted to the ground.
Luckily, we landed unschaved but of course, we could never really catch a break because we were surrounded by monsters. I shoved my backpack to the ground, wings and all. I needed to be free to fight, Chris and Percy did the same. We formed a tight cirlce as the beasts surrouned us. I had my back turned to Chris and Percy but I could feel them by my side.
"Oh hell naw, we are not dying, not until we close those damn doors" Percy said. Just then, the beast charged and we were in the battle of our lifetimes. We dodges, stabbed, cut, blocked, and swung at everything that moved. Just seconds after the fight began, I couldn't even see Percy or Chris, just the doors. "Head for the doors!" I screamed in hopes either one of them would hear me.
Out of nowhere, Chris came up beside me, we were now close to 70 yards from the door. "You guys, make a break for the door, I'll hold them off" said Chris. "I'm not leaving you" I shouted. "You have too, this is what I signed up for" he argued as he blocked a monster. I looked at him and I saw courage in his eyes, he looked so much like his mother it hurt.
