The school nurse had cleaned and bandaged the cut on Wednesday's forehead, before she had left.
"You're Wednesday, right? Rowan. I know how you feel." Wednesday got up and turned to look at Rowan as he spoke.
"I guarantee you don't." Wednesday stood with her hands folded infront of her.
"My mother promised me I'd finally fit in somewhere. I never thought it was possible to be an outcast in a school full of outcasts. But it looks like you're going to give me a run for my money. Uh..sorry about the.. nick." Y/N didn't like the way Rowan looked at Wednesday, it was as if he was trying to hide something.
"No good deed goes unpunished." Wednesday grabbed her jacket, as she left the room, Y/N hovered behind studying Rowan, and the more she watched him, the more she distrusted him.
Wednesday put her umbrella up, as she walked out of the school, with a stone cold expression, Y/N followed behind her. Y/N glanced up, at the sound of stone scraping, Wednesday stopped and followed her mislead gaze, as the stone statue began to fell toward them.
"Wednesday!" Wednesday was tackled to the ground out of the way, just as the stone hit the ground and shattered.
It was Xavier. Xavier looked down at Wednesday who had been knocked out from the force, Y/N looked over at Wednesday.
"This just got a whole lot more interesting."
Wednesday's eyes shot open, as she laid in the infirmary, her arms crossed over her chest. Xavier was standing above her.
"Welcome back. Just take it easy." Worry laced Xavier's voice, as Wednesday sat up straight, like a doll.
"Nurse said you don't have a concussion, but you probably have a nasty bump, huh?" Xavier recited as Wednesday glanced around the room.
"The last thing I remember we were walking outside feeling a mixture of rage, pity and self-disgust. I never felt that way before." Wednesday relaxed as she saw Y/N sitting by the window, looking outside expressionless.
"Yeah, loosing to Bianca has that effect on people, I think." Xavier had a hint of a smile on his face.
"Then I looked up and saw that gargoyle coming down and I thought, 'at least I'll have an imaginative death.'. Then you tackled me out of the way. Why?" Wednesday moved her gaze from the ground to look at Xavier.
"Call it instinct." Xavier was careful of the wording he used.
"So you were guided by latent chivalry, the tool of the patriarchy to extract my undying gratitude?" Wednesday looked at Y/N as she made her way over.
"Mm-hmm. You know, most people just say thank you." Xavier looked at Wednesday amused.
"I didn't want to be rescued." Wednesday deadpanned.
"So, I shoulda just let that thing smash you to mush?" Xavier's smile faded.
"I would have rather saved myself." Wednesday dismissed his sympathy and care.
"Good to see you haven't changed. If it makes you feel any better, let's just say I returned the favour." Xavier scoffed.
Wednesday looked at Y/N with a confused look in her eye.
"Xavier Thorpe? You probably don't remember me. Last time we met, I was about two feet shorter, 40 pounds heavier." Xavier raised his hand to demonstrate the height.
"What happened?" Wednesday asked still not certain what he was talking about.
"Puberty, I guess." Xavier sighed.
"I meant, what happened the last time we met?" Xavier looked at Wednesday, as she watched him expectantly.
"Oh. Uh. Yeah, it..it was my godmothers funeral. Apparently she was friends with your grandmother Nd they spent their twenties together in Europe, swindling the rich and notorious. I don't know, but we were ten, and we were bored, decided to play hide and seek. Your sister, Y/N dared me to hide in her casket. I got stuck as it was headed to the crematorium." Xavier thought back to the day as he spoke.
"I'd heard muffled screams. I just figured your godmother had cheated death and was trying to claw her way out." Wednesday hid a smile.
"Either way, you hit the big red stop button and saved me from being flame broiled. So...now we're even." Xavier clasped his hands together.
"Y/N was so disappointed that day, when you'd made it out in time. She'd hoped you'd be burned." Wednesday looked at Xavier with her signature smirk.
"Yeah, I remember that." Xavier nodded.
"Those were the good times."
*Later That Same Day*
Wednesday was clicking away on her type writer, when she heard her bed squeaking, Wednesday looked toward Y/N who was cutting the head off a doll she'd found somewhere.
"Mother and Father, must have forgotten Thing."
Wednesday got to her feet, slowly moving toward her bed, with a confused expression and a hint of fear in her eyes.
Wednesday pulled the covers off, to reveal Thing tapping against the bed."I knew it. Hello, Thing." Wednesday smirked down at the hand, as he scrambled to hide.
Wednesday caught him swiftly as he tried to make a break for it.
"Did you think my highly trained olfactory sense wouldn't pick up on the faint whiff of neroli and bergamot in your favourite hand lotion? I could do this all day." Wednesday slammed Thing against the desk as he trembled in fear.
"Surrender?" At Wednesday's words, Thing tapped out as Y/N chuckled.
"You were never very bright, Thing."
"Mother and Father sent you to spy on me, didn't they? I'm not above breaking a few fingers. The fact that they thought I wouldn't find out, proves how much they underestimate me." Wednesday sat down as Thing began tapping against the desk.
"Oh, Thing, you poor, naive appendage. My parents aren't worried about me. They're evil puppeteers who want to pull my strings even from afar. The way I see it, you have two options. Option one. I lock you in here for the rest of the semester, and you go slowly insane trying to claw your way out, ruining your nails and your smooth, supple skin. And we both know how vain you are. Option two. You pledge your undying loyalty to me." Y/N laughed as Wednesday stared Thing down.
"Now, my dear sister, that is threatening."
Thing slowly got down on his knuckles, in a sort of bow and pledge.
"Now, our first order of business is to escape this teenage purgatory. Of course Y/N and I have a plan. And it begins now." Wednesday smirked down at Thing, before slowly turning her head to Y/N who chucked the body-less doll head onto Enid's bed.
