As the sun rose over mountaintops Nova opened her tired eyes, laying upon soft grass in a cave. She stood up from the grass and headed for the opening of the cave. Outside the cave sat the giant ape, looking out into the distance. Nova, confused by the size of the ape, approached him to better investigate him. She first approached the giant's right hand, sniffing it and tugging at the hairs. The giant ape looked down at the girl, giving a slight smile. Young Nova could see the hurt within the large ape's eyes. But she knew not why or how much he was hurting or in sorrow. The giant ape looked back into the distance, watching smoke starting to billow in the trees. Nova climbed onto the giant's arm, seeing the age in his fur and the despair on his face. Something told this ape that his time on earth was almost nigh. He was both saddened and worried. The ape stood up and slumped back to the cave, with Nova now in the palm of his hand.

Just outside the swamp, Cornelius, Zira and Maurice awoke to sight of horse-like creatures with tall antlers grazing upon the dewed grass.
"They look beautiful." smiled Zira.
"Yes." replied Cornelius "And I think they could prove useful to us."
High up in the tree that Maurice slept under the night before, Cornelius climbed up to the top, grabbing one of the many vines hanging from it. He wrapped it around his arm and snapped a few into for Zira and Maurice to use. He climbed down the tree, vines in hand and gave one to Zira and one to Maurice. He hid in the tall grass so not to be spotted by the elegant creature. When it was least aware he jumped from the grass and wrapped the vine around it's neck. The animal drug Cornelius across the ground until he climbed onto it's side and got onto it's back. He pulled the vine gently, trying to calm the scared creature. Once it had calmed he rode it to the tree where Zira and Maurice witnessed the amazing feat.
"Now it's your turn." said Cornelius.
Zira looked on at where the creature stood and noticed another one coming from the bushes. Slowly she approached it, hiding in the tall grass as Cornelius did. As the creature wasn't looking she jumped from the tall, landing perfectly on it's back. She quickly wrapped the vine around it's as it tried butting her off. She pulled gently on the vine, and the creature's butting slowed. As soon as it was calm she guided it to where Cornelius and Maurice.
"Great work Zira." Maurice congratulated.
"Now we only need to get you one and we can be off to the camp." said Cornelius, getting ready to catch another of the horse-like creature.
Once each of them had a ride they headed off into the direction of the camp. But unbeknownst to them, not far behind were Ursus and Aldo.
"Ursus to Zaius." spoke Ursus through his two-way radio "Ursus to Zaius."
"I'm here." answered Zaius on the other end "What is the situation?"
"They've found transportation. Should we take them down?"
"No Ursus. Your orders are not to kill them, only follow them."
"I don't know if we'll be able to keep up at this point." growled Ursus "And I don't believe those creatures could carry our wait."
"Then either find another means of transportation, or use your natural hunting skills."
"Yes sir."
"Look up there." said Aldo, pointing to a creature flying overhead.
"Come Aldo. Let's follow it."
