While Ceasar, Zira and Maurice headed back to camp, Ursus and Aldo followed close behind, careful not to grab their attention.

"We need to stop them from getting back." whispered Ursus.

"Come. I have an idea." answered Aldo, turning to face a lizard-like creature in the midst.

A couple minutes later Ceasar's horse stopped. Ceasar turned around to see what was wrong, but he didn't notice anything.

"Ceasar?" started Zira, stopping to face Ceasar and Maurice "What's the matter?"

"I don't know..." replied Ceasar, eyeing the bushes "Something's not right."

As Ceasar stared a hole through the bushes a gigantic lizard creature stormed out from behind the bushes, knocking Ceasar and Maurice off of their horse. As the creature began to circle Maurice and Ceasar she hopped off of her horse and grabbed the rifle from the sack hanging from the saddle. She aimed at the creature as it stood on It's hind legs and pulled the trigger, shooting the creature right in the eye. The creature let out bloodcurdling cry as Ceasar dragged Maurice to safety.

"Zira!" shouted Ceasar, noticing a another creature, this time resembling a crocodile barreling towards her.

Zira quickly jumped out of the way as the crocodile creature made it's way towards the lizard creature, now lying on the jungle floor, kicking in pain. The crocodile creature opened it's wide jaw and clamped them down on the defenseless lizard creature, killing it instantly. Zira, still shocked by the event, and feeling somewhat bad for the creature she shot quietly stood up and cautiously made her way over to where Ceasar and Maurice were. Ceasar's eyes darted back and forth at Zira and the gigantic beast as it snacked on the flesh of it's prey. As Zira inched closer and closer to Ceasar and Maurice, trying not to step on any twigs to alert the hungry beast it's head rose from the dead creature's carcass. Zira stopped as the creature turned it's head, it's small scale-covered eyes facing her. The beast then turned back around and continued feasting on it's meal.

"Come, quickly." whispered Ceasar, motioning for Zira to come closer after realizing that the creature could barely see anything.

Zira nodded her head and included closer and closer to Ceasar. Almost a foot away her foot landed on a twig, getting the beast's attention once again, but this time it knew exactly where Zira was. The beast twirled around to face her, it's strong tail knocking down the trees behind it, causing the horses nearby to get startled. The beast turned towards the frightened horses and started charging after them.

"No, the horses!" cried Ceasar, watching the beast chase the horses away.

"I thought I was a goner." sighed Zira.

"You should have paid more attention to where you were going!" said Ceasar, scowling at Zira.

"It was an accident." Zira defended.

"There should be no accidents!" shouted Ceasar, approaching Zira and looking into her eyes "If you would have just stayed behind none of this would have happened."

"And how do you know that?" said Zira, but not getting an answer from Ceasar.

Ceasar looked around, not remembering which direction the camp was in. Ceasar picked Maurice up off the ground and started going deeper into the jungle.

Meanwhile, at the top of the highest cliff on Skull Island, a beast resembling a giant ape peers down at the jungle below, after hearing a cry of young human female.

To be continued...
