(Allison's Perspective)

When we got home I quietly snuck in through the front door.
I put my backpack upstairs first because I didn't want any of my stuff to be damaged, but I left my shoes on because I wasn't afraid to use my heavy Doc Martens as weapons.
This wasn't my first time preparing for a war with my siblings.
The only thing my parents ever do to stop the fights is yell at us to shut up, because usually when we fight it's late at night and they're sleeping.
Even though it was only five in the afternoon, maybe they were sleeping.
It's like sleeping is all they do.
Sure, my family has a lot of money, and that's cool and all. But the problem is; money can't buy me better parents, you know? And if it could, those two would be gone in a heartbeat.
And they'd be replaced with parents that'll have actual conversations with me.
Parents who understand.
Parents who make breakfast, lunch, and dinner for me and my siblings.
Parents that laugh with us.
Parents that don't hit us.
Good parents.
Because maybe if my parents were good then all of my siblings would be good, too.
And maybe I wouldn't have to start this fight.
But I went downstairs to see Lucas on the couch, scrolling through social media on his phone.
I walked to the front of the couch and stood in front of him.
He either didn't notice me, or just didn't acknowledge my presence until I said;
"Hey, Lucas?"
"Hm?" he replied with an amused smirk, looking up at me.
I punched him in the nose.
His head slammed back against the couch.
His nose started bleeding, but there wasn't enough blood for his nose to be broken.
He didn't even cry. He was in pain, but he didn't cry. This wasn't exactly his first time getting into a fight.
"Fuck you!" he yelled, throwing his phone down and standing up, punching me back but I dodged it.
He punched me in the stomach, and didn't miss.
I groaned in pain.
"What's your goddamn problem?!" he yelled at me, trying to push me to the floor, but not succeeding.
"If I want my crush to know I like her, I'll fucking tell her myself! It's none of your business to go and do something like that!" I shouted at Lucas.
"It wasn't even my idea!" Lucas defended himself.
"Yeah, but you were on board with it, weren't you, you little asshole?!" I shouted.
"So I assume you're mad at me because she didn't like you back?!" Lucas yelled tauntingly, doing windmill arms to try and hit me.
I backed away.
"For your information, dumbass, she's in love with me, and she's my girlfriend now!" I said triumphantly.
"I don't believe you!" Lucas laughed, hitting my arms.
It stung.
"Stop that, you little brat!" I shouted, slapping him in the face.
He staggered back in pain, nearly falling onto the floor.
"She knows I love her and I know she loves me, and everything is perfect! But I'm beating the shit out of you because I'm pissed off at you for always thinking everything is your own goddamn business! If you were a good brother, you would've stopped whoever started it!" I yelled at him, contemplating kicking him, but worried if I did then I'd accidentally do it too hard and give him damage to his internal organs.
"What the fuck are you doing?!" Violet shouted angrily from behind me before using both hands to push my back, pushing me forward.
It was unexpected and I fell to the floor, unable to catch my balance.
Violet loves Lucas the same as I love Andy. Just like Andy and I protect each other, Lucas and Violet protect each other, too.
"Only I'm allowed to hurt Lucas, you bitch!!!" Violet shouted at me as she kicked me a few times.
"Stop that, you little imp!" I yelled at her, nearly in tears but I didn't let it show.
"I'll kick you as many times as I want to!" Violet shouted at me.
I managed to stand up.
At this point Andy has heard all the yelling and realized it was serious shit instead of the normal, daily arguments.
He ran downstairs to see me struggling to stand up.
"Hey, what the fuck are you doing?!" he yelled at Violet.
He ran over to us and threw Violet to the floor. Maybe a bit of an overreaction, but like I said, Andy protects me.
Violet started crying, and Lucas went to help her up.
Andy helped me stand up and he hugged me tightly.
"I started it, Andy..." I admitted.
"I don't give a shit. You had a right to start that. But I don't want you getting mutilated." He comforted me.
"Stop hugging her like she's a sad little baby!" Violet shouted while Lucas stood beside her.
"Allison, I hope your girlfriend realizes how shitty of a person you are and dumps you." Lucas told me.
My heart shattered.
"Hey!" Andy shouted at him.
"If she's this shitty of a sister, there's no way she's a good girlfriend." Violet agreed.
"Shut the fuck up, you two." Andy warned them with gritted teeth.
"The truth hurts, Andy!" Violet shouted at him.
"Yeah, well, it's not the truth! Ally's way better of a sister than you could ever dream of being, and just because you're so jealous of how awesome she is doesn't give you the right to shit on her! Same goes for you, Lucas." Andy scolded them.
I ran upstairs crying.
"Ally, wait!" Andy shouted, but I didn't listen.
I went to my room, and even after slamming the door and locking it I could hear Lucas and Violet laughing at me and shouting mean things, and then I heard two slaps like Andy had hit them.
"OW!" they shouted in unison, and then they stormed upstairs and into their room.
Andy knew me well, and he knew that if I stormed off like that then it meant I wanted to be alone. So I didn't expect him to come talk to me.
I looked at my phone to check the time.
It was 5:38, and I sighed with frustration.
Then suddenly I got a text from Marigold.

Hey. How are you?

I started crying hysterically.
I called her.
Usually I would never call someone while crying, but it felt okay to be vulnerable with her.
She heard my sobs.
"Allison, hey, what's wrong? Talk to me..." she comforted me, trying to stay calm.
"I started a fight with my siblings..." I sobbed.
"Wait, like, a verbal fight? Or..." she began.
"No, Marigold. A physical fight. But... also some really shitty things were said between me and them..." I admitted.
"Damn..." she muttered, and I could hear how guilty she felt even though it wasn't her fault.
"Who was it with?" she asked.
"Violet and Lucas. It started with just Lucas, but then Violet joined. After a while Andy heard and came to my defense." I told her.
"Okay, I've been studying this... so in other words... your little brother, aka the one who sent me your love letter, is the one you started the fight with, and then your bitchy little sister joined and your favorite big brother came to your defense?" she asked.
I smiled.
"Holy shit... yeah..." I replied, glad that she cared enough to learn who the people in my family were.
"Where the Hell were your parents during all this?!" Marigold asked.
I shrugged, even though she wouldn't see the shrug over audio call.
"Who knows? Maybe sleeping. Maybe they're not even home. Whatever they were doing, they didn't even try to stop the fight." I told her.
"Shit..." she muttered in astonishment at the behavior of my family.
"Yeah, I know." I replied, forcing myself to laugh to make myself feel better.
"I wouldn't last a day in your house!" Marigold said, which genuinely made me laugh.
"Nah, you'd be alright. I'd protect you. And as long as you're nice to him, you'd get Andy on your side, too." I told her.
"Sounds cool." she replied, and I could practically see her smile through the phone.
I began to cry again.
"I keep overthinking what they said to me..." I admitted.
"What did they say to you?" Marigold asked.
"They called me a bad sister. And they said that you'll break up with me when you find out how much of a bad sister I am..." I told her, crying.
"Hey, hey, Allison... it's okay. I can tell you're not a bad sister." Marigold comforted me.
"But... I started a physical fight with an eleven year-old over a text message!" I insisted.
"So? He deserved it. I'm sure your family has their fair share of physical fights. I find it difficult to believe that this would be the most irrational reason your family ever started a fight." She comforted me.
I thought back to all the stupid reasons fights start in my house, and I nodded.
"You're right." I told her.
"You're a good person, Allison." Marigold insisted.
I nodded again.
"I guess so..." I said.
"Are you feeling better now?" she asked.
I smiled.
"Yeah." I replied.
"Good." she said.
We chatted a while longer, but soon hung up the phone.
I took off my boots and took a nap in my bed.
