(Marigold's Perspective)

When I woke up Monday morning, I was reluctant to get up out of bed and get ready to go to school. But at the same time I wanted to go.
I did want to go because I'd see Allison. I didn't want to go because middle school is the closest equivalent to Hell that I've ever experienced. But now that I have a girlfriend, things are gonna get better for me. I know that for a fact.
Allison's home life terrifies me, but I'm gonna do what I can to help her survive.
I had made her a card on a folded sheet of paper, and it was a purple color.
I had written I love you in bubble letters on the cover in black sharpie and drawn different styles of hearts all around the words, and the inside of the card read;

Dear Allison,
I'm sorry things suck for you at home. If there's anything I can do to help you, let me know. If you need anything I'm here for you, because I love you and I want to make sure you're okay.
Love,
Marigold

I put it in my backpack carefully.
I got ready for school and soon it was time to wait outside for the bus.
I waited, sitting on the curb with my headphones on.
I impatiently tapped my feet and rubbed my hands together to keep warm; it was too cold outside for this.
The bus arrived soon, though, and I eagerly stepped onto it.
I realized this would be the first time Allison and I rode the bus together being in a relationship, and the thought made me smile.
"Hi!" Allison's voice greeted happily.
"Hi!" I said back, sitting beside her.
We smiled at each other in a calm, comforting way that made me feel less anxious about the world.
"I made you something." I said, reaching into my backpack.
She smiled.
"What is it?" She asked.
I pulled the card out of my bag and I handed it to her.
She inspected it and smiled at the cover as I zipped my backpack shut.
Then she opened the card, and read the inside.
She looked at me with a bright smile, and hugged me tightly.
I hugged her back.
"Thank you." She said.
"Of course, Allison." I replied.
She took some earbuds out of her pockets and offered one of them to me.
I gladly took it and put the earbud into my ear.
Allison then put the other earbud into her ear, and rested her head on my shoulder as we listened to the music while the bus made its way to our school.
