(Marigold's perspective)
It was a chilly day outside that April 31st afternoon.
I asked my mom to take me to the local record store, since I only had three records and was going insane listening to the same three.
Though I had a phone and was perfectly capable of playing music from it, I liked my record player.
My mom said she didn't care what I bought as long as it was with my own money, and so I threw on a coat and grabbed my purse, and she drove me there and stayed in the car.
I didn't mind it, and brought in my purse which had my wallet, phone, and a book I was reading.
I began looking around and found the Bossanova album by the Pixies.
I've listened to it a million times on my phone and decided I wanted it for my record player, too.
The Pixies have been my favorite band for quite a while now, and I really love their music.
I reached for the record but soon realized I was too short to get it.
I didn't jump up and try to grab it for the fear that I'd break it, and sighed, about to give up.
"Would you like some help?" a voice asked from behind me.
I turned to see a girl who looked to be my age or at least close to it, smiling.
She had glassy green eyes that I thought were beautiful, and she was wearing a black dress with fishnet tights.
She had a lot of jewelry on.
She had long hair that was pulled up into a ponytail, making her lightning bolt earrings visible.
She had on black eyeshadow and black lipstick.
She wore a red flannel over her dress to protect herself from the cold.
She was taller than me, probably tall enough to reach the record for me.
But none of this was what I noticed first.
What I noticed first is how beautiful she is.
And I recognized her.
She goes to the same school as me, and we ride the same bus.
We have a few classes together, too.
"Yes please." I said, stepping away so she could take my place.
She did, and reached up to grab the record.
She got it down from the shelf and handed it to me.
"Thanks." I told her.
"No problem." she replied.
She offered her hand.
"I'm Allison." she said.
"Marigold." I said, shaking her hand with a smile.
I couldn't help but realize the connection that her name was Allison and there was a song called Allison on this album.
Allison took a glance at the album I was holding.
"Pixies! Love them." she said.
My eyes lit up.
"Really?" I asked.
"Totally! I'm glad I finally met someone else who does, too. I'm sure you know how rare that is." she replied.
I nodded.
We made small talk as we continued looking around the store.
My mom texted me saying we have to leave soon.
I frowned.
Allison and I continued talking as I went to the register and paid for the album.
"See you tomorrow?" Allison asked.
"Yeah!" I replied with a smile.
I left the store.
Even when I got home I couldn't stop thinking about her.
