Chapter 9

 "Dusk! Sunspeaker! You've been getting ready for the past five minutes, hurry up!" Blast's voice hummed through the door.

Dusk wasn't ready to leave. Not because he didn't have something he was looking for, it was because he didn't want to go. Dusk was perfectly fine with just watching Taipan perform on his stage, not going to some underground Animatronic testing place. But, he knew that Sunspeaker would feel happier if he went.

Dusk sat on his sky-blue bed just gazing at his toys. A weird green and red caterpillar, a red fox doll, many little action figures, and a fake plastic Dragonbite viper toy. He waited and waited and waited.

"Alright, I'm ready!" He heard Sunspeaker's voice from the room next to him.

He got up from his bed and walked over to the door. His tail dragged lazily with him from his over-developed tail barb. He saw Sunspeaker bouncing out of her room with a pouch over her neck. She had gold-orange scales with black spots down her spine, over her claws, and snout. While her sail was orange with flecks of black, her wings were the same as his, black with gold specks.

When he walked out his door, Sunspeaker turned around and beamed at him. "Aren't you excited to see all of those new Animatronics! Also, I thought you were still getting ready, where's your stuff?" She said.

"It was more of getting mentally ready," Dusk said. "I'm also not too sure how to feel about these new Animatronics."

The two walked down the hallway as they talked, well, Sunspeaker talked. She went on about the Animatronics they will see, and what their personality chips will be like. Dusk was now thinking of how many dragons would be at the facility. If he remembered correctly, there would be at least one hundred dragons, and humans, there. Dusk didn't like too many dragons in one place. That was the only thing Dusk didn't like about Hopper's Family Diner. He'd always feel trapped, and that everyone would be looking at him if he tripped over someone's tail.

They saw Cactus and Blast standing by the doorway when they went downstairs. "Finally," Blast groaned. "You two take forever to get ready for something." Right as Blast's eyes hit Dusk's, he saw him shiver. No matter how many times Blast says he isn't scared of Dusk, he knows his pitch-black eyes freak him out.

"Never mind that Blast," Cactus said. "They're ready now, so we can now go to Hopper's to get to the facility."

Sunspeaker bounded over to Cactus with Dusk following. Cactus opened the front door and picked up Sunspeaker to place her on his shoulder. He then lifted off the ground in flight, waiting for Blast and Dusk to do the same before he went on. Dusk hated flying. His tail barb would always weigh him down and make it hard to fly. Dusk couldn't wait until he got older and his tail wouldn't be like this. He didn't pay attention to the flight. He just saw them go past trees and houses and then they were at Hopper's. Sunspeaker jumped off Cactus' back when they landed and bounded over to Dusk.

"Aren't you excited Dusk?!" She exclaimed. "We're about to go see more Animatronics! Ones with personalities! You don't look too excited."

"I always look like this," Dusk said.

"Oh well, I'll hopefully see the happiness on your face for once," Sunspeaker said.

Once Cactus opened the door for them, Sunspeaker was the first to run in, with Blast and Dusk following too. Dusk could hear a lot of things. Dragons were conversing with others, dragonets screaming at each other, the singing of Hopper and Jackrabbit, and Taipan's voice telling stories to dragonets. Taipan had to be Dusk's favorite of the three Animatronics. After all, Taipan was designed after him.

Sunspeaker grabbed his talons and pulled him over to the main stage where Cactus was standing. Almost all the dragons around had noticed Cactus.

"All dragons and humans please listen!" Cactus' voice echoed throughout the diner. All eyes were on Cactus. Dusk knew how much it annoyed him, he read his mind a lot. "Today is the day when those coupons I made are important. All dragonets and humans that have gotten their coupons, please line up before me, have your coupons ready, and wait inside the Parts & Service."
