A few months have passed since Cactus' journey to Adonis. It was still being explored for any signs of tribes there, but so far, nothing. The Queens and Kings of Pyrrhia have all agreed to allow Cactus to have full responsibility for the island, as long as it isn't disobeying any laws. Cactus knew exactly what he wanted to do with it, to make himself a town there, and build an entertainment establishment. He could already imagine the high praises he would get. Soon, he and his family would move to Adonis to live there.
For now, though, Fatefinder had laid a single egg. It was fully black with some gold specks splattered on it. If Cactus' calculations were correct, the egg should hatch today or tomorrow. Fatefinder rarely left the egg, and when she did leave it, either Cactus or Blast would be with it. Cactus and Fatefinder already thought of names for the new member of the family. Fatefinder thought of names like Sunset, Taipan, Sandshifter, and Solar. Cactus thought of names like Twilight, Deathstalker, Diamondback, and Dusk. Blast had also thought of a name, Raven, although it was more of a NightWing-SkyWing name.
Fatefinder, Cactus, and Blast were sitting outside on the sand of the desert right next to their house. The three moons shone brightly all around them, giving off a gleam. The moons made the egg an eerie silver shell and looked like it was wrapped in a warm blue blanket. If Cactus was correct from 'Guide to the Dragons of Pyrrhia' a NightWing hatched under three full moons would get stronger mind-reading and foresight. That sounded pretty cool, having powerful mind-reading and foretelling. The night felt cooler than the regular hot days of the desert. It was also oddly quiet as if every creature went silent to watch the hatching of their dragonet. The only things Cactus could hear were the slight shifting of the sand, his breathing, and Blast taping his talons. Cactus pricked his ears up as he heard Blast move from where he was. Blast tapped Cactus on the shoulder, and Cactus looked over to see him with a bored expression.
"Dad, when will that egg hatch? Didn't you say it would hatch today?" Blast whined and pouted.
"I said either today or tomorrow," Cactus said. "We simply have to be patient."
"Why don't you get that pirate ship you bought? I know you love it." Cactus offered.
Blast perked up and said, "Yeah, I'll go get it! I'll be right back." Then he flew right into the house.
I looked over to Fatefinder who had her tail wrapped around the pearly egg. "He's definitely gonna be in there for a while." Fatefinder teased. Cactus chuckled. The two went as silent as the area for a few seconds.
"So when should my father and Drought be getting here?" Fatefinder asked.
"No clue, I only got a message after you had your egg that they'd be coming soon, I don't know when that soon is."
"Funny how you should mention us!" A voice chimed in.
Cactus turned his head and saw Brilliant and Drought flying right to them.
"Drought! Brilliant! I'm glad you guys could make it!" Cactus said.
Drought flew right up to Cactus and then hugged him. Purple scales and desert scales.
"It's been a while since we last saw each other." Drought said.
"Yeah, it has. How's your life been?"
The two then stopped embracing each other and just stood next to each other.
"Just exploring the entire continent of Pyrrhia, meeting some new dragons, getting in a few fights, finding things. That kind of stuff." Drought said.
"Huh," Cactus simply said. "Sounds like you have a very interesting life."
Drought chuckled. Brilliant walked up to Cactus and Drought, then said, "Hey Cactus, I believe that the last time we saw each other was on that trip to Adonis." Cactus bumped wings with each other.
