It all happened too fast.
Sunspeaker's terrified face as the giant claw pierced her scales. Bright has a horrified look as she realizes what's happening. And Dusk, unable to move his talons from the fear that petrified him.
But what really made Dusk scream, was the sight of blood coming from Sunspeaker. His mind went blank, his talons were shaking, and he couldn't take his eyes away from the scene taking place.
His ears perked up at the sound of talons entering the room. "Dusk, back away from her!" He heard his father shout.
The purple scales of Cactus rushed up to Sunspeaker while the color of brown wings surrounded him. When Dusk looked to see who it was, he saw Drought's familiar face. "Let's go Dusk, you don't have to see this." Drought said, pulling Dusk away from the scene.
"B-but Sunspeaker. . ." He stuttered.
"I'm sure Sunspeaker will be fine Dusk, your father will take care of it." Drought told.
Then, he heard Cactus shout, "You pathetic excuse for a dragon! How could you?!" Dusk had never heard Cactus yell like that. Not even when they were getting disciplined. He had to be talking to Bright, he had to be. But then that would mean, Sunspeaker might be-.
No, don't think about that, Sunspeaker has to be alive, she has to.
Drought held Dusk in his arms and walked out of the room. Dusk could feel tears threatening to fall from his eyes as he stuffed his head into Drought's shoulder. He could tell from the number of voices that they were back in Funtime Auditorium. Most of the voices were wondering what was happening and he could hear some dragons wondering where their dragonets went. Dusk heard the door open and lifted his head to see Cactus with his wings drooped.
"I know most of you are wondering what happened." His voice was choked up as if he were about to cry. "As much as I hate to say this, my daughter Sunspeaker has unfortunately died."
No, no no no, she can't be dead. Dusk couldn't imagine it, he didn't want to, Sunspeaker couldn't be dead.
"And to repel from any injuries or more death from these defective Animatronics, this tour is canceled. Please, find everyone you came in here with and safely exit through the way we came. If you have any further questions, please ask me or any of our staff members."
As all the dragons were gathering family members from here or Blueberry Gallery, a gray-white IceWing quickly ran up to Cactus. "My son, I can't find him! He was supposed to be with me, he said he'd be in Blueberry's Gallery for a moment but never came back!" She cried.
"What's his name?" Cactus asked.
"Shard. He looks like me but he has TwilightWings."
"TwilightWings?" Cactus tilted his head.
"It's an IceWing thing! He looks like he'd be half NightWing."
Cactus sighed. "This will be going into an immediate evacuation. I'm sure one of the staff members will find Shard, if not I will send search parties to find him." He reassured.
Before Dusk could hear anymore Drought was already moving, still holding him in his arms. All he saw before he was in the main area was that Cactus had multiple dragons around him. Dusk turned away for the rest of the trip from the underground back up. His mind just couldn't stop tracing back to Sunspeaker's death. Dusk saw that they were outside now, away from Hopper's Family Diner, and away from the horror that would haunt Dusk until the day he died. It was already evening by the time they returned to the house.
Dusk liked the feeling of the sun soaking him in warmth, it was much too cold down there. Before he even knew it, the front door of his house opened with Fatefinder, his mother, wondering what had happened.
