Chapter 10. Ajax pov

When Maya fell asleep watching tv I decided to go on a walk, I walked to the lake near by and sat on the grass and began to think because I was frustrated confused sad I felt like every emotion in one.
Why...why did I fall so hard for her?! Why?! I know she doesn't like me but still. Why am I in love with Maya?!
I don't want to sound jealous but something is off about Xavier. Okay I get it him and Maya are together but c'mon something about his off about him right?! He's just TOO perfect!!

"Ajax?" Someone says behind me
"Oh um yeah?" I say turning around to see Maya
"How come you left?" She asks
"I just needed some fresh air" I say
"Okay well could I sit with you?" She ask
"Yeah" I say

Maya sits next to me and lays her head on my shoulder

"I thought you were asleep" I say after a couple minutes of silence
"I just had my eyes closed" Maya says
"Sureee" I say
"Anddd I heard the door close" she says and I could tell she's smiling
"Maya?" I ask
"Yes?" She says
"Do...Do you like Xavier?" I say
"Well...yes I do but he...he hasn't asked me to be...well you know his girlfriend yet" she says

I turn and look at her
"Maya he'll ask you sooner or later" I say trying comfort her
"I know" she says
"Do you want to go in or stay out here?" I ask her
"Let's stay out here for five more minutes" she says as her head still rests on my shoulder

Eventually we lay in the grass and chat for a while and look at the stars. I turn and look at her Maya faces towards me a moment later
"What?" She says giggling
"Nothing" I say sitting up
"What?!?!" She says again
And without thinking I say "could I kiss you?"
"Wa-what?" She says
"No-never mind" I say laying back down
"No Ajax what did you say?" She says
"Could I kiss you?" I say quietly
"But I thought you liked Enid?" She says confused
"No you see Enid likes me I like you and you like xavier" I say closing my eyes
There's silence
"Please don't make this weird between us now because I said that" I say
"I won't okay?" She says
"Okay" I say
"Let's start going back it's getting dark" Maya says
"Alright" I say getting up
"Wanna race?" She asks me
"No you know I don't really..." then I started to run "I BET ILL BEAT YOU!!"
"Hey!!! No fair!!" I hear her yell

I got to the room a minute before her

"No...fair...you cheated" she said as she walked into the room
"We'll tenacity I didnt" I say trying to sound smart
"Yeah okayyy" she says as she jumped on her bed
"I'm going to bed" I say as I take off my shoes
"Okay goodnight...and don't worry I'll be quiet" she says
"Okay" I say as I close my eyes as go to sleep
