Laying in my bed I find it hard to go to bed. I turn around eventually shutting my eyes only for the entire room to start shaking. I quickly lift myself with a worried gaze. Lifting myself out of the bed I rush to the table tapping it to see that everything is offline.
"What..." Then looking at the door that is shut tight.
It can't open from in here and with that shaking, I am scared that the power station has been damaged somehow. I know that because when I was six there was a power outage that left me trapped in here for two days before they could fix their generators.
I rush to the door. Hearing loud footsteps opposite the door I yell at the top of my lungs, "What's going on!?"
The shutter then groans as something dents it inwards knocking me away from it. I instantly lift myself to my feet creating a solar hammer in my hand. Something is knocking down the door and it is going to break open at any moment.
I lower myself gripping it tightly. A large robot bursts through it with red optics scanning the room. I step forwards swinging the hammer with my entire body as I smash the head open against the plating.
Another step through pushing the omnic at its feet aside with his arm raised presenting an energy blade.
It charges as I lift the hammer slamming the blade away only for it to lift the other arm revealing three barrels pointed right at me. I drop the hammer creating a shield as it starts to gun me down with the bullet being vaporised as soon as they touch the shield.
Stomping forward I roll away as it breaks through the shield in its charge. I create a solar knife throwing it towards its faceplate. It explodes the moment it connects. The omnic drops to the floor.
I rush out of the door climbing over the robotic parts to see the lights flicker as another tremor shakes the entire facility. The now bland hallways feel terrifying to walk down as I hear more footsteps echo through the halls growing louder and louder.
"What is going on..." I mutter to myself as I start running towards the operating centre.
I glance around the corner spotting smaller variants of omnic walking down this path. Deciding to go through them rather than around them I create an arc staff. I lower myself as it sizzles in my hand before running around the corner rushing them.
They all slowly turn to face me with beeps and robotic screeches. I slash the staff across their bodies which vaporises their middle and knock them out of the way with ease. Behind me another of those big omnics stars firing its weapon at me.
I spin the staff around deflecting its bullets. Chipping away at its plating I disable it with its own rounds. I let the staff disappear; breathing out a relieved sigh I mutter to myself.
"All that training did do something."
I turn the next corner only to freeze. The hallway is littered with bullet holes and corpses of the security detail that worked in this facility. The light flicker again and one final tremor knocks out the power in the facility.
I instantly create a source of light in the palms of my hand. Pushing through I try my best not to look at the corpses of the people that died fighting the Omnics. Despite that, I still shoot glances to see the bullet holes that tore through them.
Shit... Is everyone else gone?
I rush forward only to see light break through the side of the facility. I head to the hole in the corridor to see the setting sun. I finally see the outside world for the first time in forever but... just outside there is an army of omnics rushing the facility.
I can't move my legs.
I... should see if I can help. Maybe save the doctor that has been taking care of me... I don't want her to die...
I turn around heading back into the facility only to stop in my tracks. Maybe I can fight all of them if I went all out with my abilities... but what would happen to me? Would they just give me a pat on the back and send me to the room again?
I rush back into the facility creating a fiery gun in my hand. I walk through the hallways illuminated by the weapon alone. Firing single shots through the chest of every omnic which kills them in an instant.
Through the opening where I came from another horde pushing through. The front two turn into machine guns. I let the gun fade away as I feel arc travel through my body as a beam of lighting travels through the hallway with a loud thundering sound.
Lightning sizzles around the hallway but the omnics are all destroyed.
With a heavy sigh, I turn back around roaming through the facility only to see countless dead bodies. Either cut open, crushed or shot dead. There were too many to look at and I am starting to feel hopeless.
Maybe they got out already... but...
I abandon all hope of anyone being alive and return to the opening of the facility. My heart is pounding in my chest and I am bordering on the line of exhaustion. I reach the opening and start bolting in a direction.
I ran.
I don't know where I was headed.
But that night I saw the stars for the first time. It was a full moon. I finally tasted my freedom at the cost of everything and everyone I knew being destroyed. A part of me hoped that at least the doctor that took care of me, Lucy, was still alive.
But still scared that they will eventually come to find me.
I don't recall anything else past that night. Just... that the stars were pretty.
