"Okay, I've got the rear vehicle," Frankie announced. "The top hatch is unlocked. All you need to do is get inside."
"Thanks, Frankie."
"Good luck," said the hacker.
"Don't need it, but I'll take it. Cole?"
Cole nodded, accelerating as well.
We approached the convoy, swerving as the remaining drones, split across the three transports, and fired on them. But as close as we were to the back of the final vehicle, the drones didn't have a good angle. At least not without leaving their charges and exposing themselves.
"Cover me!" Ashe ordered. "Take over for me."
A set of rungs ran up the back of the transport. She steered as close to it as possible and allowed me to take over. She leaps onto the transport. I spot a drone and instantly fire a shot at it which I could tell make her almost jump out of her skin.
"Watch it!" she yells at me, who still had his rifle raised and ready.
I retort. "You 'watch it'."
She bolts to the front of the transport as I keep an eye on the drones ahead of us. Making sure to find a way to get rid of them the moment I get the chance to. They have been keeping themselves safe after realising how quickly we can get rid of them.
"Damn it! Nothing in this transport. Frankie, start working on the next one. We gotta move faster." Ashe turned to go back to the ladder. "Cole, (Y/N). I am coming out, get ready to—watch out!"
I hear a shot and then hear something crash behind us. The drone she kicked didn't break as we had hoped and this time it exploded. Making sure that we don't have to worry about it coming back to get us.
"What the heck was that?" Jesse exclaimed.
"You all didn't really think I was just going to sit around while you two have all the fun, did you?"
"Julian?" Ashe hollered. "You're supposed to be setting up the tunnel!"
"Already done!" Julian appeared.
In one hand he held a stick of dynamite with some kind of detonator attached to it.
"See, Cole? I told you these would come in handy." He reached back again and lobbed the stick toward the drones at the front of the convoy. It fell short, exploding as it hit the asphalt and leaving a smoking hole.
"You let him buy dynamite?" Ashe cried.
"Only a little!"
"Not sure how I feel about that," Frankie said, over their comms.
"Me neither," said Ashe. "But I wanna see something. You got some more of those handy?"
Julian gave her a thumbs-up. "Sure do."
"Then wait for me and Cole to get to the middle transport, and blow the last one."
Ashe returns to her hovercycle. Holding on to my middle we take opposite sides, me and Cole advanced to the next vehicle in the convoy. As we passed the empty one, I spot Julian's toss was dead on and the dynamite landed in the hatch Ashe left open.
A moment later there was another explosion. Flames burst from the top of the vehicle, but it continued moving.
"There! Frankie, unlock the front vehicle, not the middle one."
The drones were giving away which one was important.
"On it!" said Frankie.
"Cassidy?" Ashe glanced over at him and brought up her rifle. "Let's finish it!"
