Marnie's POV:
Luke lead me round the back of the food court into this alley and just stood there, staring at me. i booped his nose. "hey, Luke."

he booped mine back.

"hey, young lady."

I let a huge grin spread across my face. he cupped his hand around my cheek and kissed me, shorty but passionately. my fingers quickly flew to his neck but he pulled away, breathlessly.

"come on a date with me?"

I laughed. "what?"

"tomorrow, 7?" he was being dead serious.

"um, aren't we already on a date, sort of?" I giggled.

he scratched the back of his neck. "well, yeah, but like, a proper one. with dinner and stuff. I don't know. please?" he asked me with begging eyes. "well, im not sure. I've got to study and stuff. you kinda broke my schedule last night."

"oh please, Marnie?"

"how about next weekend?"

"no. now. I want to take you out to a fancy restaurant now."

"but Luke-"

"no. please come."

"ugh, I'll think about it."

I had a bad feeling in my gut that was pleading me not to go on the date. but I couldn't resist him and his baby pout and his puppy-dog eyes.

"ok, fine." I sighed

-

Luke's POV:
it took forever, but today finally came. I was taking Marnie Michel on a date. I put on a white button up shirt and this leather jacket. I had my hair swept to the side instead of being in a quiff like normal. I wanted to look special for her.

and for our first proper date.

I had black skinny jeans and all black converse on and my shiniest lip ring on, I decided to go with black to match my outfit.

I finished off with a quick spray of this HUGO BOSS stuff and then I was out the door.

I drove over to her apartment, since I already knew where it was. it was about a ten minute drive so that gave me enough time to worry about my hair, my clothes, the restaurant and, most importantly, my breath. I'd already sprayed like 10 litres of peppermint breath freshener but just to be sure, i popped a couple of mints in my mouth then put the box into my jacket pocket.

what?
I was nervous.

I nervously rung the bell of her apartment and stood there, smoothing out my hair and jacket.

finally, she came to the door in a pair of cream leather flats and a pretty dress with flowers on it that came just above the knee and a cream leather jacket. her hair was curled and swept to one side.

she looked beautiful.

"wow, Marnie." I let out a chuckle.

"hello to you too!" she laughed slapping my chest playfully.

"you look beautiful, princess."

"as do you."

"I didn't realise boys could be beautiful."

"how very closed minded of you, hemmings. boys can be anything girls can be. you shouldn't gender things like that." she frowned. "but, we all learn lessons, don't we?" she chuckled.

"sorry, mom." I said in a joking American accent. "but jokes aside, you're full of wisdom. I shall never gender anything again."

"good lad. shall we?" she said, motioning to my car.

"we shall."

-

the drive was quite quiet. we made some general small talk and then we arrived at this very fancy, expensive restaurant I'd picked out. "we have arrived ma'lady." I said, clambering out of my side to come and open the door for her.

"wow, Luke. this is amazing you didn't ha-"

"shhh. now, come in."

I linked her arm and we walked up to the big, white doors. we were lead up to a marble counter and I gave my name so we could go and sit down.

"Luke, this really is amazing. how did you find this place?! it's gorgeous."

"ahh I have my ways." I winked and tapped my nose. she giggled.

"ok, Mister Hemmings." she smirked. that sexy smirk.

we continued chatting for a bit, just enjoying each other's company as admiring this great big hall.

there were chandeliers hanging from the professionally ornate ceiling. there were gold candlesticks on each table and crisp, clear glasses decorating everyone's table place. lots of tables were scattered around the room and everyone was in very fancy clothes and bowties.

an old-ish waiter came to our table and whipped out his notepad whilst twiddling his pen, very expertly. just like Ash and his drumsticks.

"so, sir, madam. are you ready to order?" he said in a French accent.

"yeah, thanks. um I'll have the caviar and spinach, please."

"certainly, sir. and for the lady, perhaps a salad?"

I looked almost as shocked as she did. SALAD?!! who did he think he was?!

she smiled fakely. "perhaps not. I'll have the steak, smothered in onions, a rack of ribs, pasta with extra garlic, French fries with lots of vinegar and a side of onion rings with lots and lots of sour cream."

the man looked astonished. I couldn't hold in a giggle as it slipped past my lips. I nearly choked on my water.

"only joking. I'll have the crab tagliatelle. but next time I come here, don't expect me to order a salad just because I'm a girl. I do have an appetite, you know."

so she was serious about this gender thing. "very well, madam." the man scurried off, muttering profanities.

"Marnie!" I whisper shouted with a huge grin on my face.

"what? he got what he deserved."

"was that from White Chicks?" I sniggered.

"maybe..." and we both burst out laughing.

-

we joked and chatted and ate the delicious food. until Marnie started getting all these phone calls. she decided to ignore them. it had stopped by about the 11th call.

"so, what about your family, Marns?" I didn't know where to start as I figured it could be a bit of a touchy subject.

"um...i don't have a dad or siblings and...my...uh...yeah. that's it. what about you?"

whoops.

"two older brothers, Jack and Ben. mum called Liz, dad called Andrew, dog called Molly. pretty average to be honest."

"aw but what abou-"

she was cut off by another call. she gave me a worried look. "take it, Marnie. it's obviously quite important."

so she mouthed sorry and stood up.

I watched her wander through the tables and then she stopped.

turned to me.

and fainted.
