Samantha Dalton, the CEO of Dalton Enterprises, is dumbfounded when she meets hardcore no-nonsense Anna Schuyler in an interview to be the next Head of the Environmental Chemistry division at her biotech billionaire company, an interview that could...
Anna's POV: "Rise and shine, kiddo." this time, i thankfully manage to dodge the bullet that is her pillow. I have to say, 11 year old Kelsey was a lot easier to deal with. "Nice try. You have five minutes before your mom comes in here with a glass of water to chuck over your head." after closing the door to my step-daughters bedroom, i silently open the adjacent one to my son's, peeling open the blue curtains and allowing the beautiful summer sunshine to cast into his bedroom. Tossing and turning in his cot, i hoist his tiny body up into my arms, the first thing he's bound to do is snuggle his warm bed-headed body into my neck, much to my pleasure when he does. "Good morning, little man. Welcome to Saturday." i'm met with silence as usual, whilst he mentally prepares himself for the day ahead. "Let's go see that beautiful mama of yours, hmm?" because i can smell something cooking...

The domestic sight i walk in on as i follow the smell my nostrils had been blessed with is my wife, cautiously frying up some bacon and eggs, eager to spoil her family on this beautifully sunny Saturday morning. Hearing footsteps to her right as she cooks breakfast, she knows they belong to her wife's, as i've proved each day she's known me that i am in no way a morning person. But when the smell of meat and protein sizzling away on a hot stove calls to me from the soft, cosy bed, i spring out of that damn bed faster than a person can say 'grub's up'. I place our son into his high chair on the far end of the kitchen island, and as i do each morning, she's happily greeted with a strong smack on the ass that stings until 11 o'clock, an arm snaked around her waist in comfort, and a kiss on the cheek, a curtesy she's managed to get used to. "Morning, sexy. Something smells delicious..." "It's just from a packet, Anna..." "I wasn't talking about the breakfast." she places the spatula down, twisting around to face me, her floppy blonde morning bed head adding to her slumbering early morning cuteness. She presses her back against the counter behind her, as i press my lips to hers, Sam's warm hands holding my cheeks close. I pull back, looking at her sweet face wonderingly, thinking what i did to deserve this little morning delight, and how often i can receive it... "What?" "I'm just... happy. Still surprises me sometimes..." "Me too, baby. Me too..." taking her off guard, i pounce my hungry lips onto hers again, desperate for any kind of contact to be met with my wife to set me up for the day, as each waking hour i crave her contact... "To hell with breakfast." i heel my body onto its tippy-toes, reaching her level of height to grant myself more access to her body, my mouth working wonders on hers, just when- "Morning," at the sudden sound of our daughters arrival, we spring apart, acting as if nothing happened, even though it clearly did. "You two done sucking face in front of my little brother yet?" "Oh, hush child. You and that girlfriend of yours are hardly any better." i let a loud laugh erode through the kitchen as i lean my body against the counter alongside Sam, waiting for the food to continue cooking, elbows kneeling behind me. Sam walks across the kitchen island and crouches down to press a firm kiss to our son, Archie, named after her late father in honour of him. "How's my baby doing?" he shoots his tiny arms in the air, eagerly wanting to be held by his mama, his wish successful when she minimally pats his backside whilst bouncing him on her hip. Looking at the clock hung upon the kitchens wall, i realise it's about time i got dressed for work. I managed to get my old job back at Dalton-Windbriar Incorporated back after the board members deemed Sam irresponsible. Ever since Sam stepped down as CEO, our family has been so much happier... work was never the right thing for Sam. The stress, the anxiety, the emotional strain it takes to run a company as demanding as Dalton-Windbriar is a lot for one woman to take on. A mother is what Sam wants to be, and if my wife is happy, then absolutely so am i. The connect she shares with our children is one everlasting, and i couldn't be more happier for her. "Why do you have to work on a Saturday? I thought we were all going to the park." Kelsey asks, annoyed. "I'm sorry, kid. I have a few things i need to complete before we can take your brother out." when me and Sam had a strong feeling Kelsey would be over the moon to learn she was gaining a sibling, we underestimated how much that was going to be true. She's the best big sister he could ask for, and i'm so glad my children have each other to confide in, despite the numerous times they gang up on me and Sam for the smallest incidents. "Well, i think mommy should ditch work and have a family day with us instead. You did promise, Anna." every day before i grew my own family, i swore to myself i'd never become the distant parent who valued work and money over her loving life with her family, and when you gain one as beautiful and cherishing as this one, it's not something to let slip between your fingers often. Besides, how can i resist Archie's big brown eyes gazing up at me? Kids are the best guilt-trippers ever created...
