Spencer's POV

"Poly Tech shouldn't even be on the field with y'all. So I expect y'all to take care of business. Then we're going to the Gamma Party to celebrate!" Darnell says as I put the finish touches to my game day outfit.

He's right. Our opponents aren't close to us in the talent department and I plan on treating this game, accordingly.

"Aye, you mind if Olivia comes to the party?" I ask.

"Nah, it's whatever!" He tells me as I hear him scrummaging through the refrigerator. "Just hurry up so your ass ain't late."

I look up at the clock and it says 12:25 in the afternoon.

I send a text to Olivia before taking a few more minutes to leave with Darnell.

"Aye, yo! Make sure you ask Olivia who has this crazy M8 BMW out front of Old Man Willy's crib," Darnell says as he admires the royal blue beauty and I do too.

"Actually, I think it's her friend's car," I reply as I remember the car being there last night during our conversation.

"That shit is immaculate," he adds before pulling off.

On the way to my game, I check my phone but I don't get a response from Olivia. And that's weird. We pretty much texted all night and some more this morning. But I forgot about this Gamma party. And I'm hoping she can join me.

GAME TIME

"Three, two, one!" The crowd screams in sync before the clock strikes zero and our team solidifies ourselves as a top ten team in the state of California after tonight's big win.

"Yeah, bro!" I hear Cam before he slaps my helmet in approval.

"Two hundred yards from scrimmage in front of not one but two division one scouts," Darnell follows before my mom hugs me tightly.

My eyes shift around the bleachers and after an hour long game and twenty minutes of postgame celebrations, I still can't seem to find Olivia.

I looked for her sporadically throughout my game, but I had no luck. I was hoping it was just an oversight, but the more I look, the more I start to realize she didn't show.

"I'm so proud of you, baby boy!" My mom whispers before Keisha jogs over and hugs Cam tightly.

"Aye, you got thirty minutes," Darnell, unknowingly, interrupts my thoughts. "You're not getting out of this party. We're turning up for sure."

"Remember, your brother is not in college like you two. And he better not be doing college things. The only thing he should be doing is dancing." My mom stresses and I laugh.

"Don't worry, Ma! He's in good hands," Darnell says innocently and I chuckle before jogging into the locker room to get ready.

"What's the move tonight, Spence?" Lando asks as I hit the shower.

"Some college party my brother wants me to go to."

"Oh, you're talking about the Gamma party! Only the elite of the elites will be there. You should tag me in." He says with a sneaky grin.

"Yeah, for sure," I say nonchalantly. "Simone can come too."

"I think she's hanging with Nate tonight," he answer's nonchalantly before we both finish getting dressed.

Before we walk out of the locker room, I check my messages one last time.

"Uh—nah, little bro! One thing about a Gamma party is that it's exclusive. And they check for cell phones at the door. So you might as well pop that into your gym bag and toss it in the trunk."
