Spencer's POV

"Bro, how are you here with a fine ass date when you were literally just tonguing down Lena in the basement the other day?" JR asks as we watch the girls search for the correct size bowling balls.

"You know why that Lena stuff happened. And honestly, I really wish it didn't. So please stop bringing it up." I reply as I press ignore on my phone.

"Is that Zena? So that whole make her jealous by kissing the pretty popular girl actually worked?"

"Nah, it backfired!" I whisper as I look over my shoulder to ensure no one else can hear me. "I'm not trying to play games with anyone's feelings. I just got caught in the moment."

"Do tell," he leans in and I sigh.

"She showed up at my house last night asking to talk. And she wouldn't take no for an answer."

"Please tell me you didn't smash," JR starts to speak, but the sound of the girls' voices pauses us. "---smash the pumpkin in Agriculture class."

Keisha rolls her eyes at the end of his sentence before sitting next to him. "Anyway, I don't understand how your brother can be late when he, allegedly, left the house twenty minutes ago."

Olivia walks over a few minutes later and sits next to me.

"Are you good?" I ask her and she smiles.

"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" She counters as Keisha continues to chat with JR. "Keisha's cool. And JR is hilarious!"

"He's not that funny," I pretend to be jealous and she blushes.

Before I can say anything else, we hear loud voices coming from check-in. It's my older brother Darnell, Cam, Simone, and the birthday boy Lando.

"Happy Birthday," JR yells before Keisha and I start to cheer. Olivia does the same and Lando starts to dance as only he would.

Although Darnell and Cam are a couple of years older, we all still hang out as we did in high school. And tonight is no different.

We start bowling and everything is going as planned.

"My squad against yours," Darnell says as he entertains his date.

I don't even know her name because this makes his third girl this month.

"Deal," Cam says and Keisha shakes her head no.

"Why does everything have to be a competition?"

"Your girl is scared," Darnell mouths and Cam doesn't back down as he bowls a strike.

"Ugh, I don't know how Ms. Grace does it. That house has nothing but masculine energy!" Simone says to Keisha and Olivia chuckles.

I really don't want to compete as my eyes seem to only be focused on her.

"Let's go get some food," I suggest and she looks up at the bowling order before we walk away.

I get us both chicken wings and we talk while we wait.

"So my family is a little crazy," I tell her and she smiles.

"I love it! Our get-togethers in Beverly usually involve alcohol and pills," Olivia tells me and I nod.

"So back in Beverly, what kind of boys do you typically go to said get-togethers with?" I ask and it doesn't come out nearly as smoothly as I originally planned. But it's out there now.

"Are you asking me if I have a boyfriend?" She questions and I laugh with slight embarrassment.

"Yeah," I laugh and she does too.
