Chapter 9 - Comfusion and Pep Talks

Shino's P.O.V

I was baffled, I couldn't complete a though. I stuttered worse than when I first met Artemis. But Fernandias seemed to understand, he put his hand on my shoulder

" hey, it's alright. I know you're confused and probably a bit nervous, we'll talk. But you have to get back, your friends are probably wondering about you" he reminded

Oh crap

I completely forgot about them, my dorm mates, Patron, my friends, Artemis. They're all probably worried sick about me!

I looked at my uncle apologetically, but he just nodded

" we'll meet up tomorrow, when you're free. You have Mr. Becker's number, so we can discuss our meet ups through that."

I still was unable to say a word from the shock, but I still agreed. I turned to leave when I heard him call out

" and these meet ups will stay between us, I would rather not have you tell the others of our encounter." That got my attention

" what?" I asked, confused. This was the moment of a lifetime, all I've done during the summer and the main conversations I have had with my friends have been concerning the man that now stands in front of me. And I can't say? So, I tried to argue that

" sir, I'm sorry, but why? My friends have been dying for any information of my family life." Fernandias looks at me with sympathy

" I know, but the more people that know about me, about us, will be in danger. Think about it, I have access to rather useful and dangerous knowledge that the average villain or evil cooperation would love to get their hands on so they could manipulate quirks. They would use the people around us to get to that." He persuaded.

I thought about his argument, conflicted. All I want is to keep the ones I love safe, but all my actions to do so usually fail and do the opposite. But he had point, I couldn't let the people in my life suffer from my actions, I've already broken my promise to Artemis about sneaking around and lying.

I let out a disappointed breath and slowly nod in agreement, turning to head back to my life, knowing that it would never be the same.

It was late at night, around the time I left and it's the same time now that I'm heading back

Jeez, I've been gone for a whole day?

Quietly, I made my way to my dorm building, and to my room, hoping that no one heard or saw me. I slowly open the door to my room, the lights off. I felt relieved, no one was around, and I'm pretty sure my roommates were asleep. Once the door was closed, I let out a sigh of relief

" did you really think it would be that easy?" A voice appeared in the darkness, causing me to yelp in surprise. Using my quirk, I powered on my lamp in the corner, revealing a small red headed exothermic manipulator sitting on the corner of my bed, waiting for me.

" Blake?! how did you?!..." I began, but she cut me off

" you've been gone for two days, nearly three. What did you do?" She demanded, looking me dead in the eyes. This was bad, we've known each other for years, she'll know that I will be lying, but it's worth a try.

" I-I just needed to clear my head for a bit, things have been kind of hectic for me." I answered shyly, hoping she would take the bait. She nodded in empathy, looking grim

" let me guess, stuff during the summer and last year?" She guessed, and from the look in her eyes, she was thinking about it to. I nodded shamefully

"Want to talk about it?" She offered, and to be honest, I kind of wanted to.
