Chapter 3 - Breaking a Boundary

Shino's P.O.V
I was so excited, I was finally going to spend some time with Artemis! Hopefully we can clear the awkwardness from our little.... Moment.

I quickly dug around for my swimming trunks and started to rush out the door when a certain blind camouflager appeared at the doorway.

" ok mister sneaky, it hasn't even been the first day of school and you're already sneaking out  with Artemis." He snarled, I begin to speak, to stand up for myself when Phoebe's voice echos from her room

" come on Patron, let the man see his lover."

I looked back at Patron, a glint of hope in my eyes. He starred at me for a while, deciding. Finally he sighed and stepped to the side to let me out. Not before grabbing my shoulder and starring me dead in the eyes going " don't try anything. I know what you two nearly did in his bedroom." Before I had time to register what he said, Patron swung the door open and threw  me out.

Oh god.... Does he really know what I did?

Artemis' P.O.V
I have never been to the city pool, but I will say it is rather peaceful when it's dark out and no one's around.  I looked around a bit before taking off my shirt to hop in, being sure not to make to much noise. While waiting for Shino, I decided to swim some laps to get use to the water.

As I swam through the crystal water, I looked up to see Shino's form, rippling through waves I made. I saw him in his yellow swim trucks, but nothing else, which caused me to go bright with blush. I popped to the surface to meet him

" hiya Shino!" I greeted, excitedly. Shino's smiled down at me

" I see that you're already having fun!" He exclaimed as he jumped in with me.

We swam around a bit, laughing and playing around. Suddenly, he was gone, everything was silent. I looked around for him, his silhouette in the water, but nothing

"Shino?" I called, concern and fear starting to grow in me
" Shi- ah!" Something grabbed my feet and pulled me under the water.

My lungs filled with water as my heart pounded in my chest. I pulled away from the grip of the thing holding me down, only to come into eye contact with Shino, a silly and playful smile on his face. We float to the surface and I immediately start coughing

" what. The. Heck?!" I gaged out, but he only laughed.

"Oh come on, I had to play that trick on you."

Eventually, we got tired and sat at the ledge, our legs dangling in the water.

We talked for a while, mainly about old times and our new lifestyle. But things were still a bit awkward, and we both knew it. It was just to embarrassing.

Next to me, I heard Shino take in a deep breath and finally confront what has been between us

"H-hey, I'm sorry about what happened... t-that one night-" he began, but I cut him off

" I-it's fine S-Shino, you couldn't help it...." I could feel myself heating up, the memory comes leaking into my mind, so real I could practically feel them. Falling onto the bed, his lips smashing against mine, his warm hands on my abdomen and snaking to my spine as he holds me closer.

Shino seems notice that I am deep in the memory as he speaks up again

" no it's not fine Arty. I went to far, I got so wrapped up in my mind, my desires that I ended up practically yanking you out of your comfort zone, our boundary." He confessed, shame in his eyes. I gently put my hand on his shoulder

Does he really think that?

I thought for a very long time, reliving the event again and again in my head. But, looking back on it.... It wasn't exactly bad... it was strange, a weird warm feeling inside, spreading. I love Shino, with all my heart. He's probably the best thing that has happened to me. Maybe... it's ok to take a step forward.
