Y/N pov
Leigh had been up all night decorating the house. Considering she went through losing her husband and finding out that he was in love with someone else, she is really trying to be happy.
I stood and watched as she danced as she hung the tinsel on the tree. A smile never leaving my face. This is her second christmas without him, and watching her go through sleeping around to move on from him was hard. Especially when she turned to his brother.
I could tell she never loved Danny like she did Matt. She never looked at him with doe eyes. Danny was a familiarity to her. He was her Matt replacement and nothing more.
So when I got transferred to Canada for work, she decided to visit me for christmas.
I heard a knock on my door and I groaned as I stretched and stood from my seat. When I opened the door, I smiled seeing my best friend. I instantly wrapped her in a hug and brought her inside out of the cold.
"I miss the LA heat." She groaned as I took her coat from her shoulders and hung it up as she kicked off her boots.
"Come sit by the fire. I'll make some coffee." I ushered her to the sofa and wrapped the comforter around her. She smiled softly at me before I retreated to the kitchen.
"So, what brings you here?" I asked her as I handed her the hot drink.
"I missed you and I know your family won't be coming." She said shyly. "So I didn't want you to be alone at christmas."
I watched as the smile never left her face. She decorated the tree gleefully and gracefully. Truthfully if it wasn't for her turning up at my door unannounced, I wouldn't have bought decorations.
As I was finishing up some emails, Leigh walked into my office in my hoodie. She wrapped her arms around my neck as she hugged me from behind.
"Why don't you have any decorations up?" She asked me softly.
"I don't have any." I told her honestly as she scoffed in disbelief.
"Why?" She asked with curiosity in her eyes.
"Because it's just me here. I live in a different country to my entire family so there is no point in celebrating a family holiday." I shrugged as she closed my laptop and pulled me from my seat.
"We are going shopping." She said as she dragged me to my room. "We are getting you some decorations and a tree." She ordered as she threw some clothes at me.
When we arrived at the tree farm, she held onto my arm. I borrowed her one of my coats since it was thicker than the one she owned.
"Can we chop our own tree down?" She asked me with bright eyes.
"Of course." I told her unable to say no. The hold she has on me is unreal. I watched as she chose the tree, letting her take the lead. The guy gave us both an axe and instructed us both on what to do. I ended up taking my coat off because I couldn't swing properly with it on. Leigh gave up and wrapped my coat around her and watched me work.
"Finally." She spoke when we well I mean I had cut down the tree. I turned to her to see her wearing my coat as well.
"Cold?" I asked her with a raised brow.
"Very." She nodded as we paid for the tree and the guy helped me put it on the back of my truck. Leigh dragged me into a christmas shop. I held the basket as she filled it with the decorations. "You looked hot chopping that tree down. I'm surprised you're still single." I blushed at her words, unsure of how to answer.
So she has been busy decorating all night long. I watched as she struggled to reach the top with the star.
"Need help?" I asked her making her jump.
"I thought you were sleeping." She stated as I shook my head.
"I usually wake up at this time." I told her. She looked at the time and noticed it was just after 4am.
"Why?" She asked me.
"Work." I shrugged as I walked towards her. "So, do you need a lift?"
"Please." She smiled at me. I lifted her up so she could put the star at the top. When she was steady on her feet once more, I let go as she turned to face me. "Thank you." She whispered.
"You should sleep." I told her as she shook her head with a mischievous smile.
"Mistletoe." She said as she held up the small decoration above our heads. I rolled my eyes and kissed her cheek. "That's not." I never gave her a chance to finish her sentence as I lunged forward and captured her lips in a searing kiss.
"Is that better?" I asked her as we pulled apart.
"I think I need another one." She whispered as I kissed her tenderly. I pulled her body flush against my own. "Wow." She breathed when she rested her hands on my chest.
"You have no idea." I whispered as she smiled at me. Something in her eyes told me that this was not going to be the end.
"I am starting to love Canada." She whispered before she kissed me again. We were both addicted from the first taste. Neither not wanting to think of her returning home and just living in the moment with each other.
