Four days later, they had made it to the port of the City of Anarchs. Peblo bid them farewell and told them that if they ever needed another ride to let him know, he'd be happy to help, they headed off.
"Why didn't you tell him the real reason?" Alora asked.
Kile frowned, "you remembered the whole time, huh?"
"I did indeed. What's the deal?"
Kile sighed, "Honestly? I'm scared. Every time we've spoken about it to anyone, they've warned me it was dangerous and it'll hurt people. It's only a matter of time before we step on some toes...I guess I'd like to avoid that if possible."
Alora frowned, but nodded in understanding. "If you say so."
"It's more than just that, too..." he realized.
He once again looked at his hands, remembering those friends. "The power...before we met you, it...took control of me. Turned me into a puppet and had me kill five people. With what Geffray has been saying I..."
He looked up.
"I'm afraid of myself now, too. For myself. I'm worried I'll hurt someone I care about."
"Oh my god," Alora said. "I had no idea...so that's why you've been interested in getting rid of it."
"Yeah...it's not something I want to brag about. It was just some dirt-eating Poredo Raiders, but they were still people, with families and friends and they're still dead because of me."
Alora gave him a hug.
"I can't imagine what that's like. I promise, I'll do my best to make sure you don't end up in that situation again."
He hugged her back, "thanks, but that's what this is all about. We'll find an answer."
Alora nodded, and the two of them approached the walls. "You know, I'm actually really excited to be here. One of twelve libraries in the whole world is here! And I guarantee you they have so many cool things that the Imperial Library doesn't!"
"That right?" Kile asked. "Well, maybe we can stop there for a bit."
Lija, meanwhile, was focused on a man with a beadstring who, after getting a good look at the three of them, ran into the city.
