You pressed on making your way towards the labyrinth. As you made your way there you saw a short man searching for something. Why on earth was he counting
"68"

You made your way towards him. Last you checked there were no rules he gave so you could ask around and find a way to beat it quickly.
"Excuse me?"

The little man seemed startled as he spun around to look at you. He frowned upon seeing you. Shaking his head before finally speaking.
"Oh you must be the new runner. Might as well give up now. Jareth hasn't let anybody win since Sarah"

"I'm sorry but who is Sarah- No better yet dont tell me instead could you please tell me how to get into the labyrinth."

He pointed behind you where a large door covered in glitter waited. You were either going mad or that wasn't there a moment ago. Seems like this place wasn't about to be fair to you at all. The door suddenly opened beckoning you to enter excited for a new runner. Though it always turns out the same. Jareths labyrinth had got more cruel any chance of winning was now little to none. He had never felt so humiliated. He gave sarah everything and she still turned away. So he changed the labyrinth only stealing children away when he was bored and wanted to watch a person scramble around like a mouse in a maze in search of cheese. Only the cheese in this case was another whiny baby.

The short man waddled over standing next to you stating at the entrance waiting for your next move. You glanced down remembering you still had to thank the man for the help.
"Thank you sir...."
"Hoggle"
"Ah Thank you Hoggle. I'm (Y/N)"
He gave a slight nod before marching forward trying to get you to follow. Snapping back to reality you quickly followed there was not a second to lose. Upon entering you glanced both left and right both seeming to be endless. Weren't labyrinths eventually supposes to lead somewhere. Hoggle then stood in front of you. He wanted to see why Jareth would bring you into the labyrinth. Were you like sarah? Or were you some new Guinea pig to see where he could spice up the labyrinth.
"So (Y/N) which way are you going to go"
"Well ive never been in a magical labyrinth before. So which way would you go"
"I personally wouldn't go neither"
Normally this comment made runners scowl or protest thinking he was of no help. Even sarah got iterated at him for it. Consider it a little hoggle personality test. Though not you years of fairytale reading and riddles prepared you for such an adventure.
"Neither way you say. Well i can't dig a hole and go down- So I'll go up"
"Up?"
"Yes. Hoggle do you mind giving me a lift i need to hop the wall."
Hoggle was still taken aback he hadn't thought of that. Though he couldn't possibly help you. Jareth didn't take to kindly when he helped sarah and he sure as heck won't like you cheating and climbing walls. He shook his head backing up.
"Nope hoggle only helps hoggle and nobody else."
You huffed before hearing a faint jingle and seeing a small twinkle from the side of hoggles hip. It was jewels. Why of course he was a goblin most of the ones in the tales you read were greedy wanting nothing more the to pillage towns and take jewels. Though he wasn't a very angry goblin under a bridge kind of guy he did have the jewel thing. You looked down at your finger to see a sterling silver ring with a small opal in the middle.

You had just gotten it. A small sacrifice to get your brother back.
"You like jewels don't you. If you help me over this wall. Which by the way is just one ill give you this"
You held up the ring turing it ever so slightly to entrance hoggle. Which lucky for you seemed to work as he stared before finally giving in
"Oh alright but just this once and never agian. Don't even think about my name who knows what Jareth would do"

You smiled and quickly ran over to the wall where hoggle put his hands together for you to step up. He gave you a cautionary stare looking like he would charge you double if you hurt him.
"Well go on (Y/N) I really don't have all day. Faires dont drop on thier own you know"
Nodding you carefully stepped onto hoggle with his help you hoisted yourself up to the top. Till you were straddling the wall like a horse. You glanced down at your finger once more before removing the ring and dropping it down to Hoggle. Was it selfish to have thought about taking off with it. No these thoughts must not cross your mind at a time like this.
"Thank you hoggle your a good friend"
Was the last thing you said to him before jumping off the wall making it to the other side.
"Friend? Damn you hoggle why did you have to go and make another friend."
He hobbled away back through the door sliding the ring onto his pinky barley fitting. A token from another friend. He glanced down slighlty below hos hand to his wrist where the plastic bracelet rested. Its colors had began to fade. Had it really been so long since Sarah. What he would give for her to tell him he needed her just once more.

Your feet hurt from the landing a stingy sensation corsed through the sole of your foot causing you to let of a quiet wince. Did he really have to take your brother away when you weren't wearing sneakers. As you took another step the sensation never left but spread. Okay so you did what saved yourself from a single turn around the corner. Now what you still didn't know in which direction to head.
"Well were not in Kansas anymore"

Jareth's POV
"How peculiar don't you think little Maxine. Going up? Why there was another opening next to them."
Jareth wasn't going to lie he admired your ability to do what others hadn't done before but this doesn't mean you could get away with it. Oh no you had to be punished. After all you are in his world not yours. Here he made them rules and they had to be followed. Despite them being made up mere seconds beforehand.

"Run while you still can little rabbit"
