12: Toxic

Yena was walking down the street when she spotted a shop where they displayed plenty of rings. She smiled and got inside.

"Hello, how may I help you?" The guy who was working on his table looked at her with a smile. Yena extended her hand and showed him the ring that Taehyung gave her.

"I want to make a ring like this. Can you tell me how much will it cost?" She asked and he looked at the ring before smiling at her. "Could I have a better look at it please?" He asked and she obliged.

She took off the ring and handed it to him. He analyzed it and the initials before looking at her. "This is platinum and of a high grade so the material might cost a lot. Do you want to engrave the initials yourself?" He asked and she nodded.

"I might have to find the metal today. You can visit tomorrow. I'll prepare the ring and you can just engrave it tomorrow and you'll be done." He said and she nodded with a smile before taking her ring back. "My name is Hiro. May I know yours?"

"Yena." She replied while bowing and he nodded. "See you tomorrow, Yena." He said and she went out of the shop and back towards the house.

She passed by Taehyung's bungalow and smiled while looking at her ring. "Can't wait to surprise him tomorrow!"

"Yes, just like that," Hiro said while looking at Yena engraving the initials on the ring. "Taena? Taehyung and Yena?" He asked and she nodded.

"Your boyfriend must be really lucky to have you. You love him so much." He commented. "I love Taehyung a lot. He's the only friend in my life and the only person whom I can rely on in my life."

"Wow, he must really love you too." He said and they chuckled together when the doorbell chimed signaling that someone entered the shop.

Both of them turned and Yena's eyes widened to see Taehyung staring at them darkly. "Tae, why are you here?" She asked him and he looked straight at her.

"Why? Am I not allowed here?" He asked her tilting his head and Hiro looked at him. "Ahhh... He is your boyfriend, Yena?" He asked and Taehyung glared at him.

"I am. What are you doing here, Yena?" He asked and she looked at Hiro. "You said you had to run an errand for your mother. You're meeting up with him instead?"

Taehyung slowly approached them and held her hand making her stand up. She looked at him in fear while Hiro held Taehyung's wrist.

"Sir, I know you're her boyfriend but that doesn't give you a right to behave harshly with her." He said and Taehyung scoffed at him. "And who are you? Her secret admirer?" He asked and Yena looked at him in horror.

"Taehyung, leave my hand." She said and Taehyung looked at her darkly. "Why are you getting mad at me when I should be the one mad at you?" He said, gripping her wrist even tighter and she hissed.

"Taehyung, leave." She said and Taehyung snorted at her before leaving her hand and Hiro released him simultaneously. He dashed out of the shop and Yena turned to look at Hiro.

"I don't know why but your relationship with him seems toxic. Are you sure that he doesn't abuse you?" Hiro asked and she smiled before shaking his head.

"He just gets mad sometimes. It is my fault. I lied to him that I was going to run an errand for my mom." She said, moving back to working on the ring.

"Don't think of me as a judgemental person but don't blame yourself. You're doing this for him. He shouldn't blame you. Why did he even come to ask you like that? He might be stalking you even after you said that you're going to run an errand for your mother." He said and she looked at him in confusion.

"He probably will blame himself after all this for screaming at me." She said and Hiro sighed. "Isn't he trying to play the victim?" He asked and she gave him a questioning gaze.

"He thinks that everything and everyone except him is responsible for his actions towards you. He might blame his insecurities, alcohol, or his childhood for his misbehavior." He said but she shook her hands in front of him.

"It's not his fault. He apologizes and is afraid to lose me. He deeply cares for me that is why he is a bit protective. He loves me a lot." She said with a smile. Hiro shook his head while looking at her before asking her.

"Are you sure that you're not confusing love and abuse?"
