Miles beneath the surface of the earth, far away from the war torn plains and yet not so far away at all, a lone figure lies curled up on the grimy ground. In a lightless cave, chains clasp her limbs, tightly tethered to giant slabs of unbreakable, unmovable rock.
Though resignation has begun to take over, an ember of faith still blazes within her: faith that her brother will defy the odds, break the barriers separating them, and rescue her.
As if on cue, a deep shiver rumbles down her spine and reaches her bones. With renewed energy, she launches into an upright position, gripping the ground with her talons.
There's a new spark of hope in the air.
She inhales deeply, sensing her brother's presence as strongly as if he were beside her. Feeling more safe than she has in years, she resumes her position lying down and closes her eyes as peace embraces her heart.
She releases a deep sigh, flames leaping from her nose.
The wait won't be much longer.
