Chapter 7: Nervous Asking

Today was the day I was going to ask Mika to lunch. I was really scared. But I figured that I'd ask her during the end of school. But then it would make very much sense because lunch would be over by then. So I planned to get her contact info and then I'd ask her to go to lunch with me on saturday. Sounded like a good plan to me. Gym was fun today though. We got to play volleyball again since it was an open gym kind of day. Mika would always pick me to be on her team if volleyball. Even though I'm useless. It always felt like a warm feeling when she would pick me to be on her team. Even if she knew in the back of her mind that I wasn't any help to the team at all.

Our team won this time in the volleyball game. We were all excited. Even me. Mika and the rest of the girls hugged me because I scored the last point. It was realistically all Mika's doing. She didn't hit the ball because she wanted me to hit it. But it was still nice to be a big helping asset to the team. Even if it wasn't all me. Kaio was really angry that she kept losing to us. Every now and then she would ask me to be on their team during open gyms whenever she could. I always said no. She tried bribing me with six hundred Yen. I turned down the offer. I didn't care about how much money I was given to switch sides. I wasn't going to switch sides. If it meant losing Mika.

I was in my last hour of the day in school. It was getting kind of hard to stay awake. I had many people come up to me today and ask if I was ok. I told them I was and not to worry about me. I was lying. I had very big problems. starting with how much sleep I get. After a little while I started dozing off and I fell asleep. I heard a loud ringing sensation in my left ear. It was the final bell to go home. "Shit!" I said darting out of the classroom door with my things. I was running really fast down the hallway and I crashed into someone.

It was Mika. "I'M SORRY , I'M SO SORRY!" I apologized for running into Mika. She told me not to stress about it and that it was ok. I still felt a little guilty about it though.

Mika was helping me pick up the things I dropped once I crashed into her by mistake. She asked me how the rest of my day went. I said it went ok. And that I fell asleep in my last class. She laughed a bit. I laughed with her. We finished picking up my things and I apologize again for running into her. She said that It was ok and that I shouldn't apologize for an accident. I felt myself turning red for a moment. Mika told me to have a good night and started walking away. "WAIT!" I called to Mika. She stopped walking and she turned around to look at me. She tilted her head in confusion. "Can I... Have your contact info please?" I said to her very nervously. She giggled. She said I looked worried. I told her why I looked that way. "Sure you can." She said with a smile. The Smile was heartwarming. She told me to give her my phone. I did. There it was. Her contact info. She said to call her if I needed anything. And then walked away. "I- did it." I went home. Laid on my bed. and drifted off to sleep.
