Robin Arellano was the most brutal boy in the school. He was known for putting boys in hospitals, constantly being sent to detention, and being friends with your neighbor, Finney. You were head over heels for him, yet he wasn't even aware of your existence. You were a fool for Robin Arellano.
Besides, every girl in the school was in love with him too. He was their ideal type; attractive, brave, and strong. You wouldn't have a chance with him. It was impossible.
Finney invited you to watch movies with him and his sister, Gwen. Without hesitation, you agreed. There was nothing to do anyway.
You expected Gwen or Finney to open the door when you knocked three times. Surprisingly, you see a familiar dark-haired boy standing in the doorway.
Your eyes enlarged as you processed who was in front of you. Robin Arellano, leaning on the doorway. He wore a black tank top with jeans held up with a belt. His hair fell perfectly in place. You were about to faint right there. Robin was so handsome.
"You're Y/n, right?" Robin grinned, making your heart flutter.
"Y-yeah," you stammered, looking at your shoes. You couldn't believe it. Robin was there, smiling at you. You weren't prepared. If you knew he would be there, you'd spend hours choosing an outfit and looking your best. Thanks, Finney.
Finney appeared behind Robin as he moved to the side. "Y/n, I see you've met Robin," he smirked. You glared at him before nodding.
"Yes, we have. Let's go inside," You rushed in before sitting beside Gwen, who waved at you. Her mouth was full of popcorn.
Robin settled on the couch adjacent to yours nonchalantly. He was so relaxed. He slumped down with the bowl of snacks beside him. You repeatedly blinked, hoping you were dreaming.
His gaze goes to yours. You panicked, realizing you were staring at him. You waved at him without thinking before awkwardly placing your hand into the bowl, grabbing popcorn, and stuffing it into your mouth. Robin chuckled at your stupidity before looking back at the TV.
You silently facepalm yourself. Y/n, what are you thinking?
-
Finney returned from the kitchen with more popcorn. "So, what are we watching?" You asked, glancing at the TV.
"Halloween. I heard it's horrifying. It's rated R. We couldn't watch it at the drive-in because the tickets were sold out quickly," Finney rambled as he turned off the lights.
"Wait. It's a scary movie?" Gwen asked nervously.
Finney stuffed a bunch of M&Ms into his mouth. "Yeah, Gwen. What's wrong?"
"Can— can I sit with you, Finn? I don't do well with horror movies," she murmured.
"Uh, sure," Finney glanced at Robin. "Robin, is it okay... if you switch with Gwen and sit with Y/n instead?"
Those words made your heart skip a beat. No! It won't be okay. Unfortunately, Finney's sofas only sat two each. Your hands curled into fists on your lap as Robin agreed.
You watched as he got up and sat beside you, your heart pounding so loud you were worried he would hear. You gave him a small smile before you turned to the TV.
During the movie, you couldn't help but stare at Robin occasionally. He was right there, looking perfect. You couldn't help yourself.
In one scene, Michael Myers appeared suddenly to kill one of the babysitters, causing you to jump. Robin turned to look at you, making your heart beat faster again.
"You alright?" He questioned casually.
"Yeah, I'm fine. It scared me, that's all." You turned to Gwen, who was already shivering under the blanket. You giggled at her before turning around. Robin was still looking at you.
"Don't worry. It's not real," he joked, adjusting his seat. He sat closer to you, making your stomach erupt with butterflies.
"I'm aware," you replied, turning away.
Another jump scare happened when you were caught off guard. Robin glanced at you once again. He laughed at you, causing you to get flustered. "Don't worry, Y/n. I'll protect you," he teased.
You responded by staring at him, trying to figure out what he was talking about. Robin Arellano, are you insane?
Was he flirting with you, or were you being delusional?
-
You couldn't stop thinking about Robin for the rest of the movie. He was right there. You two exchanged a few glances during the film. It was odd. You've never interacted with him before, and now he's flirtatious with you.
Strangely, you had mixed feelings about this. You were fascinated with Robin, yet you were awkward and embarrassed around him.
Once the film ended, you decided to stay behind and hang out with the group. You sat at the dining table adjacent to Robin, who was talking about the movie to Finney.
"Finn, that movie wasn't even scary!"
"Yes, it was! You're not scared of anything," Finney retorted, grabbing a can of soda Robin brought over.
"Hey, is it alright if I grab some water?" You asked suddenly.
Finney nodded. "Sure! You know where it is, right?" He asked.
"Yeah," You responded before walking to the kitchen. "Does anyone else want water?" You asked politely. The group shook their heads as she walked away.

You went to the refrigerator and swung it open, looking for the pitcher. Once you got it, you grabbed yourself a glass.
As you poured the water, you felt two hands on your shoulders. You jumped, spilling the drink on the countertop; you turned around to yell at the person who scared you, and you met eyes with Robin. He was closer to you than you expected. He gave a toothy grin as you turned red.
You went to grab a paper towel as Robin tried to start a conversation with you. "So, you enjoyed the film, right?"
"Uh, yeah. It was scary," you responded, cleaning up the spill.
"You need any help?" Robin offered. You turned around in confusion. Robin wasn't the helpful type at school.
You shook your head. "No. Thanks for the offer, though." You refused to say much so you wouldn't embarrass yourself.
Throwing away the towel, Robin awkwardly went in front of you. He paused as you studied the room. "Are you going to say something?" You questioned, playing with the hem of your shirt.
"Yeah. Um, do you like... want to go out with me sometime?" Robin asked.
You froze. Robin Arellano wants to go on a date with you. You stared at him in shock, about to pass out. Are you dreaming? Is this real? Is anything real?
"What?" You couldn't think of anything else to say. You were so surprised and caught off guard you almost dropped the glass. Finney would kill you if you broke it.
"Finney told me about you. You sounded pretty— awesome, so I was wondering if you'd go on a date..." Robin trailed off once he noticed your eyes grew immense. "Are you okay?"
"No! I mean, yeah. I'm fine... great, actually," You responded. "I'd love to go out with you," Robin smiled immediately.
"Great! See you next Friday?" He assured. You nodded in reply as you two walked to the dining table. Finney silently celebrated as Robin gave him a thumbs-up.
You finally had a chance with Robin Arellano, something you only dreamed of.
