It was the final day of summer vacation— something you'd dreaded for three months. This break was one of the best times of your life; it was unforgettable.

Being a new resident of North Denver wasn't easy; making new friends was something you found pretty challenging. Your fear of others' judgment clouded your mind, despite not many caring about what you did. It was a habit you'd attempted to defeat, but you never did.

That was until a shy boy stumbled into your life.

Finney Blake, a clumsy yet quiet boy who had lived in North Denver his whole life, had changed yours forever. He made you realize the beauty in the little things, from the sweet, icy taste of popsicles to the sparkling stars in the sky. He also had trouble socializing, but you helped each other get over your worries. You have never been happier than when you were with Finney Blake. You loved him more than anything.

Sadly, your freedom has come to an end. By tomorrow morning, you were back in that dungeon of a school, studying unnecessary topics you'd forget about in two months. You were worried that school would be why you and Finney would drift apart— if you and Finney drifted apart. You were anxious about the future ahead.

It was nighttime, the only time of day when you and Finney felt truly at peace. Today, however, you were a bit jittery. You messed with the grass beside you unconsciously, scooting closer beside Finney.

He noticed your nervousness, so he lightly tapped your shoulder. "Y/n? Are you okay?"

Startled, you nodded, gazing at the boy's perfect features. His face calmed you for some reason; it was like a force surrounding him, and you felt relaxed whenever you got near him. You lowered your tense shoulders before staring at the town before you.

"I'm fine. I-I'm just nervous. That's all," you forced a smile.

"Are you nervous about school? " Finney spoke softly.

You tilted your head curiously. Finney had only known you for three months, yet he knew you so well. You chose not to ask him.

"I don't know. . . I'm scared. About everything. What about everyone else? They're not going to be as kind as you are, Finn," You grumbled, playing with the fabric of the blanket. That was another habit Finney noticed; you always messed with something when you were scared or nervous.

Finney sighed, pulling you closer with his right arm. You hesitantly rested on his shoulder, humming in despair. "What if they hate me?"

"They're not going to hate you, Y/n. Look at you! You're perfect," Finney responded. You could see him grin, even if it was pitch black. "And, if anyone messes with you, Robin will save you. He promised."

You chuckled at his answer before your smile slowly faded, your negative thoughts drifting through your brain. You loved and trusted Finney, but you couldn't help but overthink.

"What if we separate?" You questioned cautiously, making Finney scoff.

"Are you serious? Never." He responded confidently. He held you tighter as you jerked your head, watching the lights inside the houses below turn off.

Your fingers inched towards his, your pinkies almost touching. "Promise me," you suggested.

"Promise you what?"

"That we won't drift apart. Ever," you answered. You doubted Finney would keep that promise. Promises are meant to be broken. However, you knew he always kept his word.

Finney took your pinky and linked it with his. "I promise that we won't drift apart. I will always be by your side, no matter what," he said.

You couldn't help but smile. You loved this boy so much and couldn't imagine a life without him. It was impossible to believe that you lived all these years without Finney. There was no boy like him.

A/N:
Hi everyone! I hope you enjoyed this short imagine I wrote tonight. This was similar to the ending of 'Lovestruck,' a book I had discontinued a few weeks before. I hope this imagine has given you at least a bit of closure. Again, I'm so sorry I had to stop it so soon. Have a wonderful day!
