You followed Damon and Stefen around the town as they pointed out various buildings, "and that is the town center, it is where the council meets," Stefen explained.

You nodded, "and what is the council?"

"A group of small-town politicians that have nothing better to do," Damon scoffed.

"Enough Damon," Stefen interrupted, "you know they take care of the town."

Damon chuckled, "yes from the old stories of vampires, werewolves and witches oh my."

Stefen scoffed. "You don't believe in monsters, Mr. Salvatore?" you asked.

Damon laughed, "Stefen believes that there are more important monsters to handle, like greed and lust and such."

Stefen shook his head, "I only believe that the world is a dangerous place without monsters, why scare people with fairytales?"

You smiled, "I enjoy a good story, perhaps you would tell me about the legends of this little town?"

Damon's eyes lit up as he grabbed your arm and looped it through his, "they say this town was founded by vampires and that they come back every hundred years to prey on a new generation."

Stefen rolled his eyes, but added to the story, "until Salem witches arrived and cleansed the town."

"So there are no more vampires?" you asked.

"Only if you believe the witches worked for good," Damon teased, "I think they are still among us, that the witches conspired with them and they wait until we humans feel secure, then they strike again."

You chuckled at Damon's excitement, "so you believe there are still witches here as well?" you asked innocently.

"These are just stories meant to scare you from walking around at night," Stefen interrupted, "ghost stories at best."

"My brother hates when I talk about the legends," Damon teased, "but you have to be warned before you stay in this town."

You chuckled, "well I feel quite safe with the two of you," you said with a smile, "the believer and the skeptic."

You laughed with the brothers as they continued the tour of the town. You didn't ask about the magic of the town any more that night, not wanting to raise suspicion, but you were increasingly curious of the vampires that come every hundred years. You wondered if that was Niklaus and Elijah, hoping you could stick around long enough for them to return.

It was late when the Salvatore brothers brought you back to the house. Giuseppe was waiting for you in the living room by the fire, a drink in hand. "Did my sons give you a satisfactory tour?" he asked.

You bowed to him slightly, "yes Mr. Salvatore, they were quite informative and gave me a rousing history of the town."

Giuseppe nodded, "boys please show Miss (Y/L/N) to her room and introduce her to Emily."

Damon held out his hand, "this way, Miss (Y/L/N)." You chuckled and took his hand and Stefen followed close behind.
