The ship's engine blew, maybe someone planted something on it, wanting me to fail. I always thought the worst. I tried to make a safe landing, but I still suffered and the glass cracked, smashing in from the debris that rose up from the skidded fall. I had shards sticking out of my shoulder and arm, cuts on my neck and on my legs. I fought to get out, even though it burned. Just as the noises of the system warnings got too much to bear, someone grabbed me and ripped me out, pulling me into a small cave and using their body to shield me from the blast.
When they leaned back and the smoke cleared, and I stopped coughing, there eyes were glowing yellow.
"You... are you... what are you?" I asked.
"My name is Krigi." She began, "I've come to this planet to take refuge. What is your name?"
"Uh... Leigh." I replied.
"Leigh." She repeated, then made a weird face, but quickly returned to her standard glare, "Is there a place we can go to get you treated? I've run out of rations, as well."
I sat there. Her eyes widened in expectation and I coughed up an answer, "Okay, so um, for starters- ow- you're the only alien thing on this entire planet." I began as I sat up straight. The woman stood up, hands on her hips as she looked around, "Other than me, anyway." I whispered.
"What was that?"
"W-we can't risk anyone seeing you." I said, "But... there is a place we can go."
"Good. Coordinates?"
"Coordi-what? I'll just tell you what direction to walk in." I grunted as I moved to stand, and she quickly came over to help lift me.
"We have to get this glass out of you first, before it gets in any deeper. We'll make a stop at my ship."
"Your ship? Where?"
"In an underground cave not too far from here."
"A what?"

After she got the glass out and wrapped me up, cleaning up the excess blood, she rummaged through her ship for a few things before kneeling down and signaling for me to get on her back. I did as told without much question. After seeing her eyes were the same colour as mine change to, I felt like even though I've been betrayed so many times, and I always regret it, I could trust her. I had to. Maybe because she's like me, she won't leave me. She'll understand me, and that would be enough.
My fathers quickly took action when Krigi made it to the house. They shut the windows and all the blinds, locked every door and window and turned off their phones. After feeding us and changing my bandages, they sat us down to talk.
My dad was a rather large man, tall, buff, cool looking. But Krigi... she could knock him out with a light slap.
"My name is Krigi. I am a Galra soldier from a group called the Blade of Marmora."
"How have you learned English?" My father asked.
"Through the interface of your World Wide Web. I'm a fast learner."
"Amazing."
I pursed my lips. Seriously? That's the kind of question he's asking?
"Leigh." My dad began, "The news is blowing up with your name all over it. We thought you died in that explosion... but Krigi saved you, didn't she?"
I nodded.
"Why?" My dad asked, turning back to the alien.
"Her eyes, sir." She replied, "She crashed near the cave I'm hiding my ship in. When I went to investigate the disturbance, I saw her struggling to get out. Her teeth were barred with fangs, her eyes glowing yellow. She has Galra blood in her veins." Krigi paused, looking at my parents, "But neither of you are Galra, are you?"
They shook their heads, "We found Leigh almost sixteen years ago in a small pod, with this." My father held out the device that had the message on it, "But none of us could decipher what this message meant. Maybe, you can?"
Krigi took the device and turned it on. We stayed silent until she was finished, and her demeanor quickly changed.
"You were named Vrokta. Few Blade soldiers ever took missions to this galaxy to check on the Blue Lion. The last time your father reported to base, he had met a human astronaut that had been separated from her post. She was close to death when he found her, nursed her back to health. Do you recognize the name Do Iseul?"
My fathers eyes widened, "That woman died in a failed mars expedition almost 25 years ago!"
She nodded, "When she gave birth to you, Vrokta, she became anxious wondering what might happen to you. It was risky bringing you back to the Blade's base, but they tried anyway. They became compromised and sent you back to Earth in an escape pod."
"Where are they now?"
"They died, Vrokta, together." She turned off the pad, standing from her seat, "They died so you could live safely, but the Blade will always welcome you. I can get you back to the main base safely."
My eyes widened, and my father quickly stood, "Hold on! Leigh is still our daughter too! We raised her! You can't just take her back now!"
"Vrokta is dead to your planet now, sir." Krigi replied simply, "You said it yourself. And these changes she's going through may become permanent one day, and she will no longer be welcomed on this primitive planet, where too many still believe they are the only ones in the universe. I can take Vrokta to her true home... but I will not force her."
"I want to go." I said, "I... If I'm dead... then, this is my chance."
"But, you said there was a war out there. Leigh's birth parents died trying to save her. I won't let her go if she's just going to die!"
"She won't die. I will protect her, and the Blade's numbers stand beside her. We never deploy under trained soldiers on missions. Our goal is to survive before it is to run into battle."
"I want to go home, Papa. Dad." I insisted, "I want to try this."
