🦊 UNDELIGHTFUL MEMORY 🦊

CHIZUKE OPENS her eyes, sitting up from her warm futon. She was inside a quick wide bedroom but also not that flashy, she was inside her temple back in the woods.

She got woken up by the yelling and chanting from a small window-like vent that's located on the upper part of the wall, a small rectangular shape. It was open slightly so they could get access to fresh air from the outside.

It was raining quite heavily outside and the chantings were quite covered by the rain but due to her enhanced hearing, she could hear them.

Suddenly, a beautiful woman with long dirty blonde hair came running inside her room, wearing an ancient-looking kimono. She was her mother, Okami Kyushashi.

It was a white-coloured kimono decorated with red ribbons and threads, the kimono had long sleeves covering her hands. She also has blonde fox ears with a red ribbon wrapped around them and a bell on the end of the ribbon knot.

Nine blonde tails sprouted out from the bottom of her kimono. Chizuke was also in a kimono similar to her mother's but the size was a little bit smaller due to her tiny body.

"Quick dear! Get up! Get up!" She exclaimed hurriedly, a panicked look on her face. Just as soon as Chizuke got up, a loud explosion noise as well as things falling can be heard from the front door.

"Kaa-san? What's happening? I thought the worshipers aren't supposed to come this late at night?" Chizuke asked, holding her mother's hand as she led the girl through the back door.

"I know dear but they aren't worshipers" She answered, helping Chizuke down to the small steps as it was dangerous for them to be out at midnight while it was heavily raining.

"Mom! You might get a cold!! We shouldn't be out here!!" Chizuke warned, worried for her mom but the woman kept walking away from the temple through the heavy rain.

"We are mythical beings Chizuke." Okami replied, rushing the girl to run faster while clenching her hand, "Keep running, Chizuke!"

"Mom, who are they??" Chizuke yelled out her question due to the heavy rain, "Why are we running from them??"

"They are bad men. Bad men who want to hunt us, Chizuke." The gorgeous woman responds.

Chizuke looked behind her, seeing the hoard and group of villagers who brought torches, forks, and spears with them. As one particular man noticed the two, he made eye contact with Chizuke.

"OI!! THEY'RE OVER THERE!!!"

When the man along with the others saw the two figures running away from the temple, they started chasing after the two foxes. The temple was set on fire.

"Mom! They're chasing us! They burn our temple!!" Chizuke cried out, looking backwards but the blonde woman tucked the little girl's kimono sleeve.

"Don't look back, honey! Keep running, no matter what!!" She yelled back, forcing Chizuke to run away with all her might.

The two reached inside the middle of the wood when the villagers threw spears and sticks at the two of them who were running. One of the spears penetrates Chizuke's leg causing her to fall while her mother stops running.

"Chizuke!!" She shouted in worry, rushing to help her child but ended up getting stabbed right in her stomach and her calf causing her to fall along with Chizuke too.
