A/n my research lesson just got cancelled cos the prof is sick!!!! which means y'all are getting another chapter earlier than I thought and I had time to buy myself a coffee and the Starbucks person spelled my name talule instead of Talulah which I thought was interesting .... Also there is this girl in one of my classes who I like but ive hardly talked to her and I don't know what to do cos I don't know if she is straight or not so i followed her on instgram and she accepted my follow request and followed me back but she doesn't really post so no closer to figuring out if she is gay or not and I don't know what to do but whatever. :) also this chapter is a bit longer than the last few and I also did a design for the dress that y/n wears but it's at home so I will add a picture of it in the next chapter.

Sitting in the library, you were doing a bit of reading, it was around 4 o'clock and the ball didn't start until 8 so you had a while to read and not think about her.

You were reading 'the well of loneliness', very fitting to you, it was a classical novel you had read a hundred times before but you always stopped reading before she broke her heart. You didn't feel like crying.

However, you were now being pulled from Paris in the 1920s to hear Dovey saying your name. When you were fully out of your book you could see the princess right in front of you, she was tapping your shoulder with a giant smile on her face.

"Oh, y/n........." she brought her hand back and her smile widened when she realised you had awoken from the novel "ah, sorry about that its just its, well, me and Uma wanted to know who you were going to the ball with, you do have a date right?"

Oh god, you thought to yourself, you knew why Uma had done this. Uma knew perfectly well who you were going to the ball with, she juts wanted Dovey to find out so that they could gossip about it together.
"I do have a date actually... It's, Lady Lesso." You closed the book in your hand so that you could see her face."

Dovey held a look of pure disbelief, you weren't sure if you had ever seen anyone look that shocked before. So shocked in fact you couldn't tell what other emotions could lie beyond it, would she scream at you with angry eyes or scream for joy that her seemingly unlovable best friend Lesso had found a date?

"Wait, what how?" Her eyebrows curled to question.

You spoke confidently, hoping her reaction would then be less extreme "Lesso asked me if I would be her date because she didn't want to have to go with any of the never teachers. So I said yes because I felt there weren't any ever teachers that would be appropriate for me."

Dovey made large angry gesture with her hands as she stepped back "and you though that going with the dean of evil would be more appropriate?" She said giving you a threatening point of her finger.

Widening your eyes in shock, you wanted to defend yourself "I thought we were supposed to be bringing the schools closer together, there was no rule about evil and good going to the ball together" you now began to stand up so you could argue your point because hers was hypocritical.

"Yes, that was because we didn't expect anyone to actually do it!" She let out an angry sigh "ugh whatever, it's not a big deal. I'm just surprised, the usual Lesso would ignore my orders to get a date and show up alone but..." Dovey was calming down now and you wondered why everyone seemed to be so angry today; it was probably the stress.

"But what?" you asked, stood awkwardly, hugging the book you were just reading for support.

Dovey rolled her eyes and smiled "its nothing, she's just I don't know. Been acting different, Still annoying, mean Lady Lesso. Just a little less mean recently, it's like she's happier."
