chapter 26

~1 week later~

"Papi?" I open his bedroom door.

"Yes mija?"

I sit on his bed

"I'm going to tell Stephen"

"When?"

"Maybe today"

"And are you sure you want to tell him?"

"Yes pa im sure"

"I'm not having an abortion or an adoption"

"That's good"

"When I tell Stephen, over time I'm going to be showing more and now that I'm back with Devin, he's going to notice so I was thinking that I can just stay with Stephen until the baby is born"

"Destiny, that means you're going to be gone for months"

"Papi I know but I don't want Devin or the public to find out. The people will say hurtful things and Devin will feel betrayed and he'll never forgive me"

"When you tell him, I'll take care of everything" he gives me a hug.

"Thank you papi" I hug him back.

"When you leave I'm going to miss you"

"I'll be fine"

"I'll be texting and calling you"

I smile.

"I hate lying to Devin"

"Mija, your not lying to him. Your just not telling him your pregnant"

"Yeah I know but I feel so guilty"

"You didn't plan on being pregnant and we all make mistakes mija. Don't blame yourself"

"I'll try not too"

"Do you think I should tell Devin?"

"He deserves to know but tell him only if you feel comfortable"

"Papi I'm starting to show"
I lift up my shirt

He smiles and places his hands on my bumb

"I'm proud of you mija"

A tear falls

"When I tell Stephen, I'm going to stay with him" my leg starts to shake. It usually does that when I'm nervous or worried

"Mija it's okay, I already told you I'll take care of everything"

I give him a hug.

"How should I tell him?"

"You can invite him over or go to where he's staying at and tell him there"

"We'll see what happens"

"He's in Arizona?"

"Yeah"

"Have you talked to him?"

"Yeah. Yesterday"

"He's still in Phoenix"

"Are you sure you want to tell him?"

"Yes, I'm sure"
I sit up and leave his room.

I walk to my room and text Steph asking if we can meet up.

Stephen- where?

Me- we can meet up wherever your staying

Stephen- I'ma be in Phoenix for another week. I'll send you my address.

Me- okay. When should I come over?

Stephen- you wanna come ova now?

Me- sure

Stephen- ight sexy. Just beep your horn when u in front.

Me- okay

SEEN

I change my clothes

I put on gray leggings and a oversized black shirt

I put my sweater on and then my shoes.

I look at my phone and he sent me his address.

I sit in the car for a while just lost in my thoughts.

I take a deep breath and exhale then I drive to Stephen's.

1 hour later

I beep my horn and Stephen opens the gate.

I park my car inside.

I get out.

"Wow this is beautiful"

"Yeah...it's my uncle's house. I stay here whenever I'm in Phoenix"

"Oh okay"

We walk inside.

"Steph?"

"Yeah?"

"I...I have something to tell you"

He looks at me.

"What's up?"

I take off my sweater and lift up my shirt revealing my bumb. "I'm pregnant"

"Oh... congratulations" he looks around and then his eyes land back on me.

"Stephen, your the father"

"What?"

I softly smile.

"You- you told me you weren't pregnant"

"I'm sorry I lied to you. I just panicked and I was so scared to tell you because I'm not sure if this is what you want if you'd abandon your child or if you-"

"Destiny you have nothing to worry about. I'm going to be here for our baby"

"You're not mad at me?" I ask him.

"Of course not. Does Devin know?" He asks

"No. I can't tell him. He'd never forgive me and he will feel betrayed"

"Oh"

"Promise me you won't say anything to him. He can't find out"

"I promise" he places his hands on my stomach.

He smiles and I hug him.

"I was really worried Stephen"

"It's okay, I'm not going nowhere"

"At first I thought about adoption but now I want to keep the baby"

"That's good ma"

"The only people who know is my dad, you, and a lady at the clinic"

"That's good"

"Yeah....I was uh thinking if maybe I can stay with you at your place until I give birth"

"Of course you can but what about your life here?"

"My dad will take care of everything. And I'll just tell Devin I'm staying with family"

"That sounds like a plan"

"Yeah...are you sure I can stay with you? I just don't want to be in your way"

"Yes I'm sure. You're not going to be in the way don't worry"

I smile "Okay"

"It's been five days since I last seen Devin. He just can't see my baby bump"

He looks at me and says "I wish you told me sooner but I understand why you didn't. And I promise you, I will take good care of our baby. You don't have to be scared okay destiny"

I smile and hug him.

We watch Netflix and lay down on his couch.

During the fifth episode of All American I start to close my eyes. I need to rest.
