Lesley's transplant Chpter 5

Lesley took alittle bit to think and hopefully get some sleep while she had a chance but she started to feel like sleep was far off while the twins were active and taking their time in looking to kick her on either side

" Here I thought I was gonna get to watch you sleep as I always do...." Rick smiled and sat down on her side next to her on her side of the bed.

" I did rest for alittle while after you called..." Lesley stopped when Rick leaned over slightly to kiss her. " Our 2 little ones thought it would be fun to start kicking up again... I'm really happy that you're finally home... I was starting to get alittle lonely with you not home... Everything okay with the hospital?" Lesley asked while hoping to keep Rick distracted.

" Everything is fine with the hospital... Had an emergency surgery but the patient pulled through and I expect a full recovery.... Sweetheart, are you alright? I know when you get distracted and when you're trying to change the subject... What's wrong, little bug?" Rick asked

" I'm alright I just missed you is all... I hate it that I can't really do anything right now and that you have to worry about me like this..." Lesley answered Rick's question but looked down to her lap

" Lesley I wish you didn't have to be on bed rest either I would love to take you out for something special... But I also know that we have to make sure that you and the twins are taken care of... For me that means, I have to look like a jerk some of the time and I have to make sure that you stay in this bed for right now..."

Rick climbed in so Lesley could be right at his side as always when they cuddle for the evening... " Lesley I'm gonna stay the rest of the week home... I don't want you home alone"

" Oh Rick now I don't want you setting work aside for me... I'll be okay.."

“ Well you and our twins come first. And I need to be here incase something starts and you need to be taken in..”

Finally Lesley was able to go back to sleep a few hours after Rick got home. He couldn't pinpoint it but he knew something was off even when she wouldn't say or talk about it. Thinking more about it, Rick later got up as it was 5:30 in the morning and he started to put something together to surprise Lesley as he was almost finished with the nursery and the only thing he had to add left was the chair Lesley wanted but saw that it was alittle more expensive.

The next morning after 8:00 Lesley was home with Alice while Rick was up at the hospital to get through half of his rounds and he had a moderate surgery load..

" Dr. Webber, is there anything you need?" Alice asked while she was picking around upstairs in the hallway.

" Oh.... I think I'm alright for now...." Lesley replied. Hoping that Alice wasn't going to suspect anything..

" Dr.Webber... Are you sure you're ok?" Alice asked.

" Yeah, I think so.... I think once they stop kicking, finally I'll be able to relax better..."

" You let me know if you need anything..... Dr.Webber made it very clear I'm not to let you out of bed.... and I'm to call him about anything" Alice said with a firm smile and  headed back into the living-room.

“ I'll be fine Alice... I'm just alittle tired.”

Lesley smiled but rolled her eyes because she knew already about how on top Rick is with everything... It's always one of her main reasons why she fell in love with Rick in the first place. He had yet to ever try to put himself first over her and she knew it and saw it in him where he maybe tried a few times to be selfish for himself but he's always instead put her first and has his selfless side set even higher from the beginning they learned she was Pregnant.
