Lesley's transplant Chpter 2

Lesley listened to what Alan said and thanked him for calling her and hung up the phone... Lesley took a moment but Rick knew it was something serious and for a split moment his fear grew until he noticed a smile that started to spread across her face.

" Sweetheart, was that Alan with the test results?.... What did he have to say?" Rick said and at next to her on the bed

" I..... Didn't want to believe it when he told me..... Rick, this is the best thing that I've gotten all day well second to what I came home to.... And that was something I will never forget." Lesley replied and looked at him

" Sweetheart what did Alan say?"

Lesley reached for Rick's hand and placed It on her stomach " Rick..... I'm pregnant...." Lesley started and added " You're gonna be a father.... We're gonna have a baby." 

Rick sat speechless for a good minute as he heard what Lesley said.... Thinking about what was gonna lie ahead he pulled Lesley close to him and said to her " And you're finally gonna be a mother again that's the best news we've both had all year long." 

" I love you Rick..... I love you so much." Lesley shifted slightly more to him.

" Just rest sweetheart." Rick said and kissed her on the head..... 

“ For a good while I thought something was wrong like maybe I was sick but hearing what Alan said and thinking also what Dana had to say to us a few years back… Rick she was clear that it would be near impossible if not dangerous for us to try for a baby. I just hope that things go okay.”

“ Things will be Lesley I promise you that because l’m gonna be on top of things and l’m gonna make sure that you’re taken care of.” Rick kissed Lesley on the forehead before he went to unplug the phone so she could rest.

After Rick unplugged the phone in the bedroom so it wouldn't wake Lesley after she fell asleep before he stepped out to finish in the kitchen before he was then gonna go back to hopefully get some sleep himself before he had to get back up for a heavy schedule at the hospital. Over the next few hours, Rick found himself wide awake unable to settle as he thought about what could lie ahead for him and lesley as he remembers what Dana told them in regards to if they wanted to start a family and the fact that it could be difficult for Lesley to carry to term following the accident as there were residual effects from that night and she was already having slight trouble with her blood pressure and her breathing from when she was nearly crushed in the accident that she and Rick were in a year prior… waiting until around 715, Rick made a call to set up with Dana to see Lesley as Dana was her regular OB and Primary physician. 

“ I have an opening at the end of the week this week will that be okay for you?”  Dana asked

“ I would've liked to have you see her sooner, but I know that you're busy so that would be fine Dana thank you.” 

After making an appointment with Dana, Rick went back upstairs to see how Lesley was feeling seeing that he had her take some time off to take care of herself but he still had to go in as he had a few scheduled surgeries he had to get through during that following week.

“ Les, sweetheart…. I don’t wanna wake you but l’m just looking to check on you before I have to leave.”

“ I always like it when you check in on me… I wish you didn’t have to worry about me though.” Lesley sat up alittle with Rick’s help.

“ Sweetheart, it’s always gonna be my job to worry about you. I promised alot to you a long time ago and I don’t plan on backing out and throwing it away not now nor ever. Especially, because I had to learn the hard way when I left you the one and only time for Monica and when she did that to me and to us, it taught me something and it showed me just how deceiving Monica really was specifically towards you.”
