Art by me!
Fukase dreaded walking into school today. It was a new school year and his only friends, Len and Piko, were no longer in his school since they had moved to the high school. How dare they leave him behind!
Sitting alone at breakfast wasn't very ideal either. He was known as the annoying memelord kid around school so people avoided him like the plague. It was unlikely he was going to find anyone to befriend. This was unfair. He didn't wanna be alone all year.
He gulped down his breakfast and headed to class, determined to become at least acquainted with someone. He didn't care who it was, they just had to get him through the day. He was a natural extrovert, so it shouldn't be too hard.
As usual, he sat in the front near the door. Due to his one working eye and his barely working legs, he was always basically forced to sit in the front row. If he had a say in it, he would sit in the back where he could mess around with any friends.
Someone sat next to him, and he glanced over to see a blonde white kid. Okay, that's not normal, where did this white kid come from.
"Who are you?" Fukase blurted, and the boy looked over at him. Bandages covered the left side of his face, and Fukase's eye widened.
The boy blinked at him. "Oliver. I'm an exchange student from London."
Fukase pointed to his own left eye. "What happened to yours?"
Oliver continued to stare. "Don't you know it's rude to ask? I don't even know your name, and you're already trying to pry into my personal life."
"Wha- I'm sorry!" Good job Fukase, first conversation with a classmate this year, and you've already offended him. "I'm Fukase."
Oliver looked back at the board. "Well now I don't want to know your name, you already ruined it."
Fukase couldn't tell if he was joking or not but decided to go along with it. "Oh come on! Won't you give me a second chance?"
"I dunno if you've earned it yet."
"How can I earn it?"
Oliver hummed and looked back at Fukase. "Treat me to lunch. I forgot to bring money."
Fukase's face lit up. "Okay! I can do that!"
The edge of Oliver's frown turned up. "Good, then we have a deal."
How lucky Fukase was in finding another kid that shared his sense of humor. He would like to hang out with this boy outside of school some time. Was it too early to decide? Fukase didn't care.
At lunch, they sat in a corner, as per Oliver's request, and talked about whatever came to mind. Fukase enjoyed learning about the boy, and he hoped Oliver felt the same. He wondered if it was too early to exchange numbers now.
"How are you getting home today?" Fukase asked, sipping at his chocolate milk and propping his head up in his hand.
"My brother's picking me up." Oliver replied flatly, eating his pudding with his bare hands and sucking it loudly off his fingers. "After he gets released from the high school of course."
"Oh, me too!" Fukase grinned. "Maybe we can walk together?"
Oliver stared at him, and Fukase gave him puppy eyes (puppy eye?). "... I suppose we could."
"Yay! I can even show you off to my brother too." Fukase finished his milk and dramatically slammed it on the table.
"Why would you do that? You barely know me." Oliver smiled a sinister smile. "You might come to regret it in the future."
