Unexpected

Chapter 2

I wake up in the morning and remember today is my first day of school. I glance at the clock on the wall. I sigh in relief because I still have an hour until we need to catch the bus. I quietly get dressed and walk outside.

It's warmer today than yesterday and I can tell the temperature is only going to rise. I look down the street and most of the cars are gone because they are trying to beat the morning traffic rush. I don't understand why though, there aren't that many people in our town that can afford a car.

I didn't see him until he spotted me from down the street. He smiled and waved. I nodded and immediately walked back inside. Today is going to be a long day...

Stephen woke and was ready to go so we left and waited at the bus stop for a few minutes when I see the same boy from earlier come toward us. Thankfully the bus pulled up, we all got on and I sat in the very back of the bus. Stephen sat with his friends and the boy sat alone.

The bus stopped at the elementary school first and many kids, including Stephen, got off and we were left with a handful of highschool students. That's when I noticed the boy looking at me. Please look away, please don't try to talk to me, please just leave me alone, I kept thinking to myself. I really don't like people, they always seem to let me down and to never stay around. I only have one friend. She is relentless and wouldn't stop bugging me until I agreed to be her friend. That was in the third grade. Kayeden and I have been friends ever since.
