TREVOR

I wake up the next morning, still in Summer's bed. But she's rolled over onto her stomach and my arm is stuck under her head. I think I've lost feeling in my arm but I don't care because she's holding my hand.

I roll over, kissing her cheek. She shifts a tiny bit, and it's just enough for me to wiggle my arm out.

I slowly crawl over her and stand up. I slide on my shoes and pick up our trash from last night.

I packed my hockey bag so I could head straight to practice from here.

But before I leave I walk back over to Summer. I am smile down at her, brushing some of her strawberry hair off her face.

"Where are you going?" her voice is so soft, and her eyes still closed.

"Practice, don't get up," I lean over and kiss her forehead, "I'll text you later."

I start to walk away and she sleepily mumbles something that makes me stop in my tracks.

"I love you, be safe."

Did I hear that correctly? Shit, did she hear me last night?

I slowly turn back around, but she's still laying down with her eyes closed under the blanket.

I pretend it didn't happen and slowly leave her room, closing the door extremely slowly so I don't wake her.

I head off to practice, but the whole time I'm thinking about what Summer said. I feel like I imagined it.

"What the hell is up with you today, T?" James asks as we walk off the ice to the locker room, "You missed every freakin pass!"

"Trouble with the Miss's?" Logan teases.

"Shut up," I shoot him a glare, "And no, there's just a lot on my mind right now."

I guess they can take a hint because they keep their mouths shut as we all start to undress and hit the showers.

But before I leave the locker room, I pull my phone out and smile at the text waiting for me from Summer.

summer : thank you for last night, pick me up from practice later?

me : you're welcome sunshine, i'll be there

I don't expect her to answer right away because I know she's going to be in class all day before she goes to work for a few hours before practice.

SUMMER

I'm walking out of practice with Ellie and Danni, who is very un-stealthily trying to see if we want to be co-captains next year. She and our other captain, Becky, are graduating at the end of the semester and they get to pick the next nominees for co-captains but the whole team gets the final vote.

"Oh my god," something catches Danni's eye, we all stop walking. My eyes follow her gaze and my cheeks immediately warm.

Trevor's waiting by his car, leaning on the passenger side door with a bouquet of flowers in his hands. The sun is also setting behind him and helps paint the perfect movie like moment. He's just in just a pair of black basketball shorts and a grey hoodie but he's looks like a greek god. I stare at his muscular legs and probably start drooling.

I love how hopelessly romantic he is, even if it causes slightly embarrassing moments like this. I can feel myself blushing already.

"Who is he for?" Danni asks with her jaw on the floor.

"The one who's face isn't just red from practice anymore," Ellie sounds unamused. Since her break up with Alex, which I found out about from Trevor, she hasn't been as bubbly as normal and she won't tell me what actually happened. She just keeps saying it was mutual but I can tell she's lying.
