38: Be Careful What You Ask For

3rd person pov:

As the moonlight begins to trickle in from the front door being open. Dabi puts his mask on and picks Hawks up. Dabi runs out and leaves Hawks scarf behind.

Hawks:"Where are we going?"

Dabi:"I'm sure you're just as curious as I am. Now let's go see mom."

As they head over to the local asylum. Hawks sees something out of the corner of his eye.

Hawks:"Wait, stop right here."

Dabi stops in place. That's when Hawks hops out of Dabi's arms.

Hawks:"I know you're there. Come out and show yourself!"

Out of the shadows comes Mr. Compress.

Hawks:"What happened to the doctor spy? Is he taking a vacation or something?"

Mr.:"I'm surprised you noticed us."

Hawks:"What can I say. My ears are like dogs."

Mr.:"So where are you both off to on this full moon lit night?"

Dabi:"My student here needs help. So I'm gonna show him the hospital he might need. If he doesn't stop trying to self harm."

Mr.: "Poor thing. Did Touya's death hit you that badly. Master won't be pleased to find his new pet in someone elses cage. Be sure to keep him free roming all right?"

Dabi:"Fuck OFF. If my student wants help. I'll do anything to give it to him."

Mr. :Very well. Oh, before I leave. Master wanted me to give you a letter in response to yours."

He flicks the envelope like a playing card between two fingers. Shooting it right at Hawks head. Just an inch away from hitting him in the eye, and dabi catches it. With a bow. Compress leaves without another word.

Hawks grabs dabi to ride piggyback. As dabi puts the letter in his jacket pocket.

Dabi:"Ready to go?"

Sherlock nods and lays his head against Dabi's back.

Hawks:^Even though his body is cold. He still has the scent I remember.^

Hawks sighs of relief and a whimper of comfort bring a smile to Dabi's face. It was a feeling he had almost forgotten. In only a few minutes. Try arrived at the hospital. Dabi walks up to the desk.

Nurse:"Visiting hours are over sir."

Dabi:"We're here to see Rai Watson."

The nurse is startled and points to the hallway where she's located.

Hawks:"Are you sure about this? She could be asleep."

Dabi:"You saw that nurses reaction, right? That only confirms my suspicions."

The moment the door opens. Dabi feels weight lifted off his back. He turns around and doesn't see Hawks.

Dabi:"Sherlock?"

The sounds of choking ring out. That's when dabi looks in the room. The sight of his mother gripping Hawks throat and pinning him up against the wall. Sends Dabi into fight or flight.

Dabi:"Let him go.*growl*"

Rai gives Dabi a look that freezes him in place. Unable yo move and helplessly watching as sherlock struggles to breathe.

Rai:"So this is the sherlock who got my baby into trouble. "

Hawks:"M...ma'am p...leases. *gasp* You don't un...derstand. Your son is- ACK!"

Rai:"Oh, I'm well aware. I was hoping that none of my babies would ever be turned. Let alone be hunted by a monster like kai Moriarty. His heart was full of love and sympathy as a human. Now he has only rage and hunger driving him. Although I am proud of him for one thing."

She releases Hawks and walks over to dabi. Hugging him and whispering in his ear.

Rai:"I'm so proud of you for  not feeding on humans. Once you do. Life will never be the same again. That taste will drive you mad. Even if he offers his blood. You mustn't drink it okay? Promise me please. Don't end up like me."

Dabi:"So that's why you're here. Dad found you feeding on shoto. Not beating on him."

Rai:"I never wanted you or your siblings to find out. So before I left. I erased Shoto's memory of what really happened."

Rai and dabi hug while crying. Meanwhile, Hawks begins to catch his breathe. Before bowing to rai.

Hawks:"I'm sorry I couldn't protect touya. He was trying to save my life and ended up losing his in the process. I'll take any punishment you have for me."

Hawks begins to cry and visibly shake in pain while gripping his chest.

Rai:"Your punishment will be severe. Are you ready?"

Hawks sits up with arms wide to expose his vitals and looks up to reveal his neck.

Hawks:"Do what you feel is right."

Dabi:"Wait, mom, don't!"

Rai bites Hawks right hand to feed, and to trickle blood out. She uses her finger to draw a symbol in his blood. Before biting her own hand and doing the same. She then looks at dabi. Who does his left hand.

She interlocks her fingers with hawks hand. As dabi does with sherlocks other hand.

Rai:"The is a blood oath. Swearing loyalty to one another. Sherlock, do you promise to give your life if necessary to protect touya?"

Hawks:"I swear to give my life, blood, heart, and soul to touya if that's what he needs. My undying love will forever be with him."

Dabi takes off his mask to reveal it to Hawks for the first time.

Dabi:"In life or death. I will be yours. No spell or charm will control my will to be with you forever. No harm will come to you from me."

The blood from rai's hand wraps around Hawks and Dabi's binding them together. While Hawks and Dabi's blood forms to make a blood diamond ring on both of their hands.

Rai:"I now give you both my blessing. Fight until that man meets his true end. I believe in you boys."

Hawks blushes as dabi smiles with hope.

Dabi:"Thanks, mom."

Hawks:"Come on, we gotta go. Why waiste candy light. We only have eleven days until the ball."

Dabi:"Not to mention it'll be Christmas Eve as well."

Hawks:"Oh crap. The tree. Please excuse us ma'am. Thank you for the swift kick in the ass. I needed to get my spark of inspiration back."

Rai smiles at them.

Rai:"Merry Christmas to you as well."

Dabi picks up Hawks and runs out in a flash.
