~Ally's POV;~

She's really here, but how?

My gaze moves to the living room where Nathan is still asleep on the couch; he must be seriously exhausted. As I look back to Lexi she smirks and states "We've got a lot of catching up to do." Whilst she backs away into the kitchen I follow after her, feeling confused and desperate to know what the hell is going on. "How can I see you right now?" I ask with a mixture of relief and concern stirring in the pit of my stomach. "Are you a ghost?" Lexi grins and answers teasingly, whilst her fingers drum impatiently on the kitchen side, "Well, I'm not alive, that's for sure." Something's very wrong here. As much as I am happy to see her again, I know that this shouldn't be happening. How could she possibly be here? Matt. He was able to see Vicki due to calling on her; he was her foothold into our world. Is Lexi here through me? "All I know is that you were thinking about little old me," She announces with a relatively cheerful smile, with her hands moving to her hips as she speaks. "So here I am to help." A small smile tugs at my lips in response to her support, and it doesn't take long before my train of thought turns to Stefan again. "His humanity's off, and it's changing him for the worst." I explain stressfully whilst patting the nape of my neck trying to remain strong in front of Lexi. "I mean, I don't know how much you've seen on the other side, but-"

"I've seen everything." Lexi declares with raised eyebrows, and the corners of her lips raise into a sympathetic smile as she continues. "He doesn't make the whole best friend job very easy, does he?" A tired sigh escapes my lips as I answer nervously, whilst dropping my hands to my sides and meeting her eyes. "Lexi, my intentions were never to replace you, I just-" Words fail to escape me, unable to effectively describe the problematic friendship between Stefan and I. "I know that, and believe me-" Lexi explains reassuringly with a nod of her head, and through a comforting step in my direction. "He's very lucky to have you." Her honest smile sends floods of relief through my body at her approval, and instantly I am reminded of just how awesome Lexi is. "I don't know about that." I conclude with a sad laugh whilst looking down at the floor of the kitchen, and with weakness trembling through my body I continue honestly. "I think I need him more than he needs me." This brutal honesty is projecting out of me, and I know that it's because Lexi has this strong connection with Stefan that has built up over centuries of friendship. "Woah. Where's that fun girl I met in the Grill who was willing to have a shot with me? Where's your fire?" Lexi exclaims with a light grin on her face whilst appearing in front of me enthusiastically, and as she does she places her hands on my shoulders. My usual sad smile controls the form of my lips as I answer apologetically, feeling my hands tremble against my thighs, "I think that fire burnt out a long time ago." Lexi frowns instantly at the sound of my negativity, and in response she gives my shoulders a supportive squeeze. "What's going on with you two?" She asks anxiously with great emphasis on her words, and in attempt to remain strong I laugh and look away. "What do you mean?" I question hopelessly in regards to the fact that there is hardly anything between me and my best friend anymore; he's slipping through my fingers.

"You don't see it, do you?" Lexi asks with genuine surprise, and as I look back her amused facial expression mirrors her tone of voice. See what? She smiles sympathetically at my confusion and goes to speak, but suddenly the lights above us flicker repeatedly. On, and off, and it doesn't stop.

What now? The cabinets around us start to shake, and as Lexi tightens her hands around my shoulders she exclaims with bewilderment in her wide eyes "Something's coming." My stomach drops heavily with fear, but before I can question what Lexi is talking about she vanishes before my eyes, and she's nowhere to be seen. "Lexi?" I call fearfully whilst stepping into the corridor, and with no surprise my worry heightens. "Lexi!" Something's coming? What did Lexi mean? Did what ever this "something" is send Lexi away? What is coming? Are we safe? Nathan. Instantly I gulp down the fear building in my throat and sprint down the hallway for the living room to wake Nathan, and as I round the corner into the room Nathan remains fast asleep. If there is something me and my brother share more than anything, it has got to be our love for sleep. We have to get out of the house. As the lights around the room begin to flicker rapidly I clamber to Nathan's side then place my hands on his hard shoulders, and with no further delay I shake him with desperation to protect him. "Nathan, you've got to wake up!" I call urgently throughout the mild trembling of our surroundings. "Nathan? Nathan!" His eyes remain closed, his body still, and his face peaceful. After endless attempts to shake him into consciousness I freeze above his limp body, and with no control my thoughts turn to the worst. He's not - No, he can't be. "Nathan, please open your eyes! Nathan!" I growl with harshness, throughout the lump forming in my throat. My left hand darts down to his neck, and as I gently press two fingers into his skin I search frantically for a pulse. Thud, thud, thud. He's alive, he's okay.
