Four years passed, and the death of Louis was accepted. Anya never thought she would, but...what else was there to do?
She didn't want to socialise with other people, so she decided to be home-schooled for most of her high school. Lawrence wasn't so fond of this idea, so he made sure she had to go to a public school for at least her final year. Kenny and Stacy were older than her by a year, but were in the same class. That also went for Seth and John, twins who were one year younger than Anya.
The whole thing was set up because John and Seth were considered special kids with IQs above average. Anya just learnt super fast and hard to catch up, and that put them all in senior year together.
"ANYA!" Kenny yelled at the top of his lungs early that morning, "Get down here before I take a bite out of your pancakes!"
"Oh no, not this again," groaned Stacy.
"I'm not calling the hospital this time, "John said as he scrolled through his phone.
"ONE!" Kenny burst.
"Okay, he's dead!" Seth concluded. Rather slim and short compared to his twin, who was a bodybuilder.
"Two!" Kenny ignored everyone.
"Uncle Marco, is Kenny gonna be whooped again?" Dina, Lawrence's four-year-old daughter, asked Marco.
"Yep, you got that right." Marco gave Dina a smug smile.
"Thre-"Kenny didn't finish because Anya had his head pinned to the table. She was pissed as it looked already.
"I don't remember you leaving your common sense in bed when you woke up." Anya glared at Kenny with her eyes glowing blue.
"I-just... wanted you--to not be late."Kenny struggled.
Anya shoves Kenny off his seat to the ground and takes over. "Thanks for offering you breakfast too."
"Oh, c'mon, Anya!" Kenny whined like a kid.
"It's funny how you're the one crying now." Stacy mocked Kenny.
"That's right!" Anya smirked at Kenny, who was still on the ground. "I'll reward you for being so kind. Cain!"
Cain ran to Anya from wherever he was. He had grown so big that he looked like a wolf with his dark fur. He weighed almost a hundred and ten pounds of pure animal muscle.
"Be a good darling and share your breakfast with Kenny," Anya said, and Cain barked.
"Aw, come on! Don't kid with me right now!" Kenny whined and got up. He was headed for his mother, who was setting his father's breakfast (she preferred to serve him herself). "Mom, Anya's teasing me again."
"Ha, ha, and I thought you weren't manageable!" Leny, along with everyone else, burst out laughing.
"What's that? An insult?" Kenny cried.
"Just... wondering who could fix that nut of yours!" Leny wheezed so hard.
"Mom...."
"She looked for that non-existent common sense and gave it to you!"
Kenny felt the tears on their way.
Just then, Lawrence walked into the room. In his normal work attire, a suit. Expensive. He gave his wife a kiss, ignored his son's existence and picked up his daughter. "Good morning, honey," Lawrence said to Dina.
"Kenny's being dumb again!" Dina snitched.
"Oh, really. I had a feeling he flushed his brains last night. Anya must have found it in time." And once more, the table roared with laughter.
Kenny was the certified joker of the Gnah family. Anya is a sort of guardian to keep him in shape. Stacy joined the trio as the smart ass. She didn't need to study to get straight A's. John was the playboy type, his dad owning a car racing fund company. This means he had a car collection. Then, Seth, a certified sweetheart who has a very sharp tongue that has made people cry, even on live TV.
These four were going to join a public high school just a mile down the street. They always went to private schools, but this time, I quote, "is for social experience".
Lawrence was taking them there on his own, and a driver will pick them up at four. Lawrence hated dealing with kids, teenagers at most, so he was rough on them all the time. Aside from Anya, who never messed around, Stacy also.
Upon arrival, they stood at the school entrance and breathed in. Lawrence was told to take a tour around and see if it was a good learning environment for the kids. Instructions from the moms in the house. But he was too lazy, so he dumped it on Kenny.
"Dad, you're lazy," Kenny said straightforwardly.
"Repeat that?" Lawrence asked as he pinned his son to the car bonnet. They weren't alone; kids were arriving in school, and the weather was heavy with heat.
Anya and the rest left Kenny with Lawrence and went in.
"I'm kinda scared," Seth confessed. "I heard that gangsters study here, too."
"Drop it." John left his phone and wrapped his arm around Seth's neck, "Stick with me, and you'll be fine."
"I think these are our classes." Stacy interrupted while pointing at two doors on both sides of the hallway.
"See you guys at lunch." Anya fist bumped John and ruffled Seth's hair, then went to her class.
"See you then!" Stacy also said and followed Anya. Kenny was supposed to be with them, but was running late. They had five minutes till the bell rings. The two just decided to go in without him.
The classroom went quiet. No one had on a uniform, let alone appropriate attire for school. Stacy was sure of this, so she asked Seth to pick out her outfit for her. No one moved; they just stared at the two. Anya mostly cos she looked and stood like a boy with her short puffy hair, sweats and a buggy shirt, while Stacy stood politely with her blue mini round dress on.
"Hey, we're transfer students. My name is Stacy D'Lamini Gnah. Nice to meet you." Stacy said with a smile, and people got out their phones as murmuring started.
"Sup. Am Anya." Anya said with her bag over her shoulder and walked to the back of the class as Stacy followed. Before they could sit, Kenny ran in. He looked disorganised as hell.
"Am I late?" He asked anyone who could answer. A girl yelled a "no".
"Right!" He stood up straight, "You must know me. The handsome, rich and famous Kenny Gnah. I hope we get along." Kenny said and walked to where Anya was.
Stacy had already sat by a random girl. Anya wanted the window seat at the very back of the class. She stared blankly at the boy who sat there until he got the hint and moved.
"Dad said no bullying, Anya," Kenny said.
"Do I look like your dad's daughter?" She shot back.
"You're so mean." Kenny sat right in front of her, next to some geeky boy.
"School sucks," Anya said, and Kenny laughed.
