Anya was born knowing her fate as a guardian of the Gnah family. She embarks on a quest to find true peace for not only them, but her people as well. With mystery and secrets in every corner, will she be able to go through all this alone. Or will she...
There is a lot for me to say right now because I happen to be a big talker. Firstly, I am a prince all the way from Africa. I am best friends with Jay, whose family is full of royal finance managers (just fancy bankers, he says). My name is Cairo; yes, like the city in Egypt, and no, I am not from there. My history is a bit complicated.
I joined this school last year and my life here is pretty basic. I am single (for now), on the boxing club, and pretty popular for my outgoing character and the fact that I rarely get pissed.
So when this girl crashes into me at the gym entrance, I am more concerned than mad. I usually come to the gym in the mornings since I cut class at around that time...anyway, I was dressed and ready to leave when she ran into me. Panicked.
I fell hard onto the ground on my butt, her on top of me as I held us up in a sitting position. She was panting in panic, and her short curly hair was in a mess. She had the coolest grey eyes on earth and full lips and sharp sleepy eyes and a cute nose and...and...I am staring!
Quickly finding my composure, I helped her up, "Are you good?"
"Yeah, uhm.... I am running from him, you did not see me!" She then slipped by me into the gym, and a few seconds later, I noticed the new kid running down the hall to me.
I casually point to my left, and he runs on. I had no idea what was going on, but then again, it was normal right now. Everything seemed to slow down with the girl just now. I wanted to see her again, just to be sure that it was not a dream.
I went back into the gym, and yep, it was just a dream since she was not in there. I even looked under the benches, but nothing came up. She had vanished.
With a little bit of confusion and disappointment, I went to the café to meet my man-crush, Jay, and have a strong coffee since I happen to not know when to stop watching anime at night.
The day was perfect, greeted some people on my way out of the main building, then entered the café after getting minimal sunlight on me (like yo, I'm dark enough already), then spotted Jay in our spot far from the door and bathroom equally. Perfect.
"Did you oversleep in the gym again?" Jay asks.
Well, first of all, how dare he? "Yeah, okay...you got me." I mean, I said nothing about skipping class to work out!
Jay snickered a bit, then ordered our usuals, and then we spoke a little, waiting for the drinks. I noticed that Jay was different, so I had to ask, "Okay, Jason Derulo, got news for me, or am I supposed to pretend that I didn't notice?"
He laughed, yeah, I can read minds too...okay, just his, but that counts, right? I mean, considering how jumbled his is, I deserve a medal.
"Okay," Jay shifted uncomfortably in his seat, "See, I saw this person. I mean, I can't say what came over me, but it was almost like—"
"Time slowed down?" I interrupted him before he could finish.
He gave me one of his 'no shit' grins before nodding. "You get it, dawg," then he leaned over to me, "now I know that you are super good at predicting my words, but that was too good."
Busted!
Okay, so maybe this girl has been stealing hearts, but I'm okay, right...? Wrong, I don't even know her name, and it hurts that our little meet-cute was not well...ours. "I think I met the same person." I sipped my coffee before it got cold, "Nice grey eyes."
Jay flinched. Did I mention I never get surprised? I never get shocked about stuff, so it is kind of easy to act cool in every situation. Jay? Not so much. "But...I fell in love," he said softly.
I choked on my coffee, and the air I was breathing at that point all at once. I wheezed and coughed and gasped until I successfully caught the attention of all the people around us. "What?" I said as I calmed down a bit.
Jay squinted his eyes in worry, then spoke slowly, "You never get shocked. I know this is so sudden, and I can't believe myself, but I feel it." He looked me in the eyes, pure honesty seeping through the look, "Cairo, I can't joke about such things."
That? I know. Jay is the type of person we call a hopeless romantic, but I just say simp for short.
Now that he said it, I realised that that small encounter with the girl did me some damage. I couldn't find the words to say to him. I mean, I was happy, but I was also...angry.
I got up in a rush and very dramatically ran out of the café. No, I did not believe Jay. I had to see this girl. Just one more time before I lose my mind!

Night fell, and I was so caught up as club president since it was Monday, class, then practice. Don't even ask why I hate Mondays.
I went to Bekham(school estate) and immediately bumped into Jay on my way into the house. He seemed like a mess. "You didn't pick up my calls..." he said with the tone of a question and a sigh.
I looked at the ground, suddenly fascinated by its beauty. I could not look him in the eyes because it just made me angry. I was in a bad mood for the first time since I can remember.
"Cai, please talk to me." Jay breathed almost audibly.
When he said that, I was not going to hurt him. He was my best friend. I looked up and smiled brightly. "Been a long day." I wrapped my arm around his shoulder and led him in, "I'm about to quit boxing."
Whatever has caused this change in me, I was not going to let it ruin my relationship with my best friend. He needs me to think for both of us, and lucky for him, I have never given up on charity.
It's simple. Just pretend, right?
Love at first sight can be tricky, but what can I say, it's just my first 'first'.
