I woke up groggy as ever, from the night prior. I looked at the clock 9... I mean I guess I'll do something... I got out of bed and used the bathroom, I looked in the mirror, toying with my eye a bit.
Meh, it's nothing, probably. It started bleeding again, but only for a few minutes, just like the last time. Ever since I got to Gravity Falls I haven't been getting the same eye bleeds, I hope being here has nothing to do with it. I changed into a white tank top, an orange flannel, some skinny blue jeans, and white tennis shoes.
I walked out of my room feeling like an August night around a campfire with my friends, just right. I walked through the bare game room, only with a couple of boxes scattered throughout the space. I walked through the other doorway of the game room. My mom was trying out her new kitchen, cooking waffles, even though boxes were still everywhere.
"Good morning honey! You're never this put together, where are you heading?" She asks with a smile on her face. I spotted a box of granola bars on the half-put-together kitchen table, I walked over to the table and ripped the box open.
I grabbed a granola bar and opened it, "Well I'm exploring today, is the Corolla here?" My mom nodded and told me to take it, after all, it is my car now she said. I grabbed the keys and ran out of the house and to the vehicle by the curb.
It unlocked with a click and I opened the door, letting the warm air out of the car for a minute. For the minute I let it air out, I took a bite of the granola bar, the peanuts were a little hard to chew, but it was alright.
I finished the bar and stuffed the wrapper in the cupholder, probably never to be touched again. I put the key in the ignition and it fluttered on when I turned it, as it would typically do. I pulled off of the curb and saw the turn-around cul-de-sac, turns out we live on one of those streets. I turned the car around and pulled it out onto the main road we were on yesterday.
I saw the sign for the Mystery shack up ahead, with a car a couple of yards/meters ahead of me turning into it, with the plate reading 'New Mexico'. "must be a tourist trap place or something, I'm curious." I said aloud to no one in particular.
I turned on my blinker to show people behind me I was turning right, and so I slowed down and took the dirt driveway to the place. The place was deep in the woods, with lots of redwood trees in my view. No way someone actually lived out here.
I came across a wooden cabin that looked well in its thirties, don't ask how I name things. Across the roof there was a huge wooden sign that read 'Mystery Hack' The S, which made it look like 'Mystery Shack' was lugged against the wall. Apparently, it was world-famous, a total lie.
People were everywhere, just unorganized as a whole, A man outside was dressed in a black suit with a fez that had the Royal Order of the Holy Maceral sign on it guiding a small group of people around, probably giving a tour. I pulled into a parking spot in the very back that had some shade on it, mostly in the driver's seat. I got out and grabbed a plastic water bottle from the back seat, seeing if I could fill it up somewhere.
I got out of the car and started walking up to the main building, the late-summer heat beating down on me. The building was way bigger than I expected it to be, but everyone headed through a main door, probably to see attractions. I walked through the door everyone else was going through and was hit with a blast of really good AC.
I looked around the crowded area, seeing fake attractions everywhere. Ridiculous I thought as I walked by a 'sascrotch' or whatever that weird taxidermy was. It confused my brain. I stopped and looked at a couple of other attractions, questioning my sanity in between. I got through it all and took a stroll through the gift shop.
Something caught my attention, something that looked like the only one of its kind. It was a yellow crystal necklace. Wrapped with glittery gold wire and a gold chain. It felt as if it was pulling to me, it wanted me to come towards it. Suddenly a little girl with brown hair and a pink sweater went to look at it and frowned. The angel in me wanted to go see what she was frowning at, and I did.
"Hey, kid, what's got your mood in a tangle?" I stepped towards her and her mood instantly improved and went back down again when she looked at the necklace.
"Well, my Gruncle owns the Shack, and he told me to do some art project, so I went and got this pretty rock in the forest. I made it into the necklace and he was delighted to put it on the shelf. No one has bought it all day! Do you think I did a bad job? Should I improve my necklace-making skills?" She looked at me again and I smiled at her.
"Well, I think you did a great job, I was just about to go and look at the price myself. I really like the thing! How'd you feel if I bought it? I really like it you know!" I went over to where it was hanging and looked at the price. Really, $10? Overpriced much. I looked back at her face, and now she was smiling.
"Wait really? You should totally try it on! I bet it'll look perfect on you!" She grabbed the thing and unclasped it, going around and hooking it around my neck. I must admit it looked like something I'd wear. I gave a little spin and she giggled, we made eye contact again.
"It looks perfect! Oh, by the way, I'm Mabel! My Great Uncle Stan, Gruncle, owns this place, me and my twin brother are staying here 'till the end of the summer!" Mabel introduced herself, I wonder how her parents came up with the name.
"Welp, I'm Kiana Wilson, just moved to Gravity Falls yesterday. I have relatives from my mom's side, the Corduroys, ever heard of 'em?" Her face lit up in disbelief, almost like she thought I was lying. "No. Freaking. Way. follow me right now!" Well, she dragged me over to the cash register, where Wendy was there, checking out a couple with a small kid.
"Wendy! Your cousin showed up! I swear you look the same, hair color and everything, except Kiana's dyed bangs." I looked up at Wendy, and sure enough, it was her, looked almost the same as yesterday. She gave a smile and I unhooked the necklace, placing a 10 dollar bill by it.
"Woah, Woah, no way you're shopping here! Not ideal for prices, trust me. Stan is an absolute money hog, but I'll ring ya' up!" She took the ten and put it in the register, typing some things on the register, a receipt came from the printer. She instantly threw it away.
"I heard someone was talking crap" An older man came by the register, and I took the necklace from the countertop and put it in my pocket, now he noticed that.
"You stealing missy? Why is a sweet like you doing here?" I cringed, and jumped at the same time, this flirty old man, really? Wendy just laughed, and Mabel gagged. Me, why me? I'm not special, not at all. I shook my head in disapproval.
"I'm 16, don't think flirting with me is the best option for your criminal record. I swear he mumbled 'just one of many' and then just walked away, a weird one for sure. Maybe he's just arrogant at first, that's probably it.
"Sorry, he's my boss" Wendy took it as no big deal, Mabel on the other hand was just continuously gagging. Suddenly an oversized gopher and a sweaty pre-teen boy ran over to the counter. They were both sweating like they just ran from a creature of undesirable doom. The kid looked at me and I swear he had heart eyes at me, just like Stan.
"Wendy, did you know Mr. Pines is having a party in a few days?! I'm the DJ, and you and Dipper are the admission officers!" The gopher looked at me, and bowed "Welcome to the Mystery Shack! I am your personal handyman, Soos! How may I be of service?" I looked at Wendy she just shrugged. I looked at my empty water bottle.
"Well, you could put some ice cold water in this bottle but you don't hav-" He cut me off by grabbing the water bottle from my hands and running through the 'employees only' door.
"He does that to everyone, don't be scared, no one really ever wants anything so he was excited to do that for you." The brown-haired boy said. He blushed, cause he hasn't introduced himself. "Dipper Pines, a pleasure to meet you. That's my twin sister Mabel, bet you know her." He started mumbling and writing in a really familiar book. I leaned in to look at the cover.
How does he have Journal 3?! I thought it was in my room! I didn't wanna call him out on it. The gopher- Soos- ran back in and put the water on the counter. "There you go miss! Enjoy!" He panted even more, while I was kind of cold. Suddenly I could feel an all too familiar substance leak from my eye through the eyepatch.
