I Do not own any of the characters or places mentioned, I am just having a bit of fun with them for a little while!
This story was written in correlation with MagicofNarnia's posted prompt list, which also does not belong to me.
Alex age, 13
Alex dashed between two elm trees, turned a corner in the path and and quickened his speed as he entered a clearing in the trees.
His feet fairly flew over the ground as he ran, his breath coming out in ragged gasps.
The snow that covered the ground was about two inches deep, with the temperature about 10 degrees bellow zero, which was unusually cold for a Christmas eve.
He took a quick look behind him and saw that the wolves were still following him, and he quickened his speed all the more.
With great effort, he managed to stop gasping and quiet his breathing. He needed all of his strength, and he couldn't go wasting it like that.
"Give up, Son of Adam! You can't outrun us, forever! There's still at least two miles left to you're precious castle, and you've already run two!"
I did not bother answering him, for that would have wasted precious energy, that I did not have to spare.
Normally, I would have just faced them in combat, but not when there's ten of them. They would have me so fast, I wouldn't have a chance, and they knew it.
The wolves haughty, conceited laughter rang in my ears then, but it only stiffened my resolve; I would rather die fighting, then on my knees.
And off course it wasn't like they were not trying cut me off, but I was using every small path and hole I could find, making use of my small size, which made it much harder for them to cut me off, Being bigger then me.
"You're never going to make it home for Christmas alive, Lord Alexander! When I get my teeth into that scrawny neck of yours, it's going to my absolute pleasure to hear it snap! But that's after we take off a couple of limbs."
The wolf took special care in saying my name in the most mocking way possible, and I tightened my lips, struggling not to give him a retort with my sword.
The mere thought of what those wolves had in store for me, made me feel sick to my stomach. I could practically feel the wolf's teeth closing around my neck.
Dashing into a stand of pines, I ducked and dodged the slap of branches at my face and body.
Entering another clearing, I saw to my complete astonishment that a slay with a pair of reindeer hitched to the front and a big man with a white beard stood in front of me.
Before I could think of anything to say, the man said, "Quick, get in the slay!"
I didn't waste anytime arguing the point, I just boosted myself into the seat next to the man, and we were off.
From behind me, I heard the angry snarls of the wolves discovering my escape.
Seconds later, they had started chasing us while howling viciously.
"At the top of the bag you'll find a bow and quaver filled with arrows, my Lord. Let's see if you're as good of an archer as Queen Susan."
I nodded to show my understanding and opened the bag and found exactly what he said I would.
Pulling out the bow, I then slung the quiver over my shoulder and drew out one of the arrows.
I took careful aim like I had been taught, before letting the arrow go.
It landed in the heart of lead wolf, causing it to crumple to ground and trip up several of the other wolves in the process.
This went on for several more minutes until all ten wolves lay dead on the ground behind us, the last one having almost gotten his teeth on one of the reindeer's legs.
I breathed a sigh of relief and turned to my savior, who was Father Christmas.
"Well done, Lord Alexander; The Queen would be proud, even if it is difficult to miss with that bow."
I grinned and replied, "Thank you sir! Especially sense I am usually a terrible shot! And it's an honor to finally meet you Sir!"
The jolly man laughed then, and so did Alex. It felt good to let all of that fear slide off of his shoulders.
"I was just on my way to Cair Paravel when I was told to stop and pick you up, so I'll drop you off, along with the present's! And I am also honored to make you acquaintance, you're majesty."
"And don't worry, that bow Isn't one of your presents, though I do have several for you." He added with a smile.
"Getting back home, and on Christmas Eve no less, will be the greatest present of all, sir!" Alex replied with a grin.
