I Do not own any of the characters or places mentioned, I am just having a bit of fun with them for a little while!

This story was written in correlation with MagicofNarnia's posted prompt list, which also does not belong to me.

Alex age, 14
Lucy age, 12

I had promised my friend and adopted little sister, Lucy, the first dance at the Narnian Christmas ball.

I had just gotten back from a skirmish  with a small group of fell, which been successfully defeated, and then they we returned home, a couple of days before Christmas.

The only problem was that in the final moments before the end of the battle, I had been wounded in the knee by an enemy arrow, and therefore, couldn't walk by myself. And sense it wasn't a serious injury, no cordial could be used of course sense that was only for emergencies.

"Oh Aslan, how can I keep my promise to Lucy now?" I can barely even walk, let alone dance!"

Lucy had sent me a letter, which had arrived the day of the battle, and at the end of it, her impassioned  plea for me to come home still made my heartbeat quicken with resolve, "Please come home Alex, it won't feel like Christmas without you."

And although I had come home, it just didn't seem right somehow that I still wouldn't be able to keep my promise to her.

Then I thought of Lucy's excited face when she had first asked me, and my resolve hardened; I would keep my promise, I would!

I set to planning then, and although I did come up with one, I just hoped I would be allowed to carry it out.

You see, my ever-observant, friends had figured out I intended on keeping my promise.

And although they had tried to convince me, their efforts have so far been unsuccessful and shall continue to be so.

After dressing in my favorite outfit, "which is red lined with silver," I limped to the ballroom on my borrowed crutch.

An hour earlier, I had a couple of servants set up a chair and a small stool in the middle of the ballroom, for me.

When I got their, I sat down and waited, sense I had arrived early on purpose.

When Peter and Edmund arrived, they tried to come get me, but Susan saw me and held them back. She gave me a little smirk, "As if to say she had guessed my plan", which she probably had.

After the music started, Lucy came to stand in front of me.

She wore a puzzled frown on her face, as she said, "Alex I know you promised that you would give me the first dance, but you don't have to keep it, I understand."

"That's what Peter and Edmund said, and although I usually take their advice, this is not one of those times." I replied solemnly.

I looked down at my leg, "which was propped up on the stool", and continued, "Just because I can't walk, doesn't mean I can't dance with you."

Then, I took her hands and making sure she was standing within my reach next to my injured right leg, we started to dance.

Although unlike usual dancing, we simply moved in time to the music, with me content to just sit.

The entire ballroom was watching us, but I honestly didn't care, because I had kept my promise.

Lucy had the biggest smile I have ever seen, on her face, and she laughed out loud when I Spun her around.

"You know Alex, Christmas really wouldn't be the same without you!"

"I know, right!" I replied with an impish grin.

When the dance had finished, I discovered that we had actually been the only ones dancing, because everyone was to busy watching us.

We bowed to each other amidst a roaring applause.

Peter and and Edmund were the loudest!

And after that performance, I had a partner for the rest of the night!
