"So, how's work?" I asked casually, taking a bite out of my pizza.

"Same old, same old. I'm more concerned about your college life. Found a boyfriend yet?" She smirked before sipping her coffee.

"Mom! No, I don't have a boyfriend." I whispered-yelled.

"That's a shame." She took her last sip. "I was really liking that Ian guy. Your father told me that you have a new roommate?"

"Yeah, she's really nice. In fact, I was wondering if you would want to come with me to meet her mother." Oh yeah, Lola invited me to meet her mom, apparently, they hate each other. She told me that her mother use to get drunk and make, her little sister, Cali, do everything.

"Sure hun, I haven't socialized with any of your friends parents in a while." It true, she was always away from the crowd, due to her job.

"Yeah, well, I think we should leave now, I know you're really busy later on." I grabbed the keys out of her hands, and got up from my seat. She took her coat and we headed out the building after resting the tip on the table.

"You're actually going to drive? Last time I checked, you were scared of the road." She snickered, whilst getting into the passenger seat.

"Well, I didn't pass my driving test for nothing." I inserted the key into the ignition, hearing it roar from the impact. I reversed out of the parking lot, and onto the road, heading to Lola's house.

~~~
"This is her house?" My mother grimaced. It wasn't really that bad, it was like one of those old modern house, with bricks and wood. Our family is use to big houses, because, well, we're a big family, plus we have the money for it.
"Yup, now stop hating and make a new friends." I said. After parking the car, we made our way to the doorstep and knocked. A little girl, who looked about seven opened the door, I'm guessing that she's Cali.
"Hi there, Cali right?" She nodded with a huge smile. "Is Lola home?" She nodded again and yelled for Lola.
"You guys can come in if you want." She said opening the door wider, for us to come in. Inside was way different from the outside. The wooden floor was coated with empty beer bottles, and ashes from cigarettes. If my mother wasn't already disgusted, she was now. Cali, skipped into a room leaving my mother and I in silence.
"DASH!!!" I heard Lola screeched, before jumping on my back.
"Gosh, your heavy!" I yelled hoping that she would take the hint. Thankfully she did and noticed my mother.
"Hello, you must be Mrs.Jones, I'm Lola." It was like she had changed completely, like, one minute she was super hyper and now she's acting her age.
"Well, Hello Lola. Call me Mary-Anne."
Before anyone could speak, a lady with jet black hair appeared. She had a full on irritated look, and was glaring at us. It looked like she had just finished cooking, despite that she had an apron on.
"Um, this is my mom, Edline. Mom, this is my friend Dash, and her mother Mary-Anne." Lola introduced. She looked like she wasn't please -at all- At this point, the both moms were glaring at each other, as if this was a staring contest.
"Well, then." Lola and I said in unison.
"How about we go shopping! You know, like a girls night out thing." Lola suggested.
"Oh yes! That would be nice. Right mom?" I went along. She gave me a look, then sighed.
"That sounds...nice. As long as Edline is okay with it." My mom said looking at Lola for reassurance.
"Of course she's okay with it. Right?" Lola said elbowing her mom. She didn't answer, until Lola elbowed her again.
"Whatever." She mumbled.
I think we're all going to get along just great.
~~~

"I mean, I didn't even do anything! It's not my fault I'm classier than her." My mother complained for the sixth time, whilst picking out outfits for her trips. I mentally rolled my eyes at her.

"If you hadn't notice, Lola's mom is more of the silver spoon type, you can't hate her for that. Besides, I think you two would be great friends."

"Ha! Yeah right. I like this for you." She held a lime green crop top with a matching lime green skirt, with suspenders. I just wanted to add, that I got my taste of fashion from my mother, she could dress me up any day.

"Oh yass!! I love it!" I grabbed it from her as if it was on sale and the only one left.

"NO! CALI WATCH OUT!" A female voice screamed throughout the store, everyone heads snapped to the child section.

Uh-oh. Cali was on the floor with at least three mannequins and shoes on her back as she lay on the floor. I ran alongside with my mother over to Cali.

"Ow!" She screamed as Lola pulled her out the pile.

"Cali what the hell is wrong with you!" Edline yelled.

"I-I was reaching for the hat and I fell. I'm sorry." Cali looked scared. She was shaking and not dare make eye contact with her mother.

"You could have died Cali. Gosh I swear I don't know what to do with you anymore. Let's go!" Edline stepped away, not even making sure if her daughter was okay.

"Honey, are you okay?" My mom asked kneeling down to Cali's level.

"I didn't mean to it just fell on me! Yes I'm fine thank you."

Lola hadn't spoke yet, but you could see the anger in her eyes as her fist began to form.

"I swear....."she started off but mumbled the rest as she walked away.

We all headed back home. I had to leave in a couple of minutes and Lola stayed for an extra day.

"Are you sure you have to leave now. Can't you stay for an extra day." My mom pleaded, still hugging me.

"I'm sorry mom, but I have classes tomorrow and I don't want to fail them." Lies.

"I'm gonna miss you again. Don't get in any fights please."

"As if I've ever fought in school." Also lies.

I waved one more goodbye to her and left. Finding a cab that drop me to the airport, and boarded the plane back home.
