Henry was looking below deck when he heard a muffled sob. His head snapped to the direction of the noise so fast it could've given him whiplash.
He walked carefully towards the sound, his hand hovering over his sword. Once arriving he heard a slight breath hitch, after moving a few empty crates and misplaced furniture his eyes widened.
"P-please don't hurt me" a small voice spoke. He stood there frozen at the sight before him. There stood a small girl, she looked no older then 8. She had a brunette, wavy, bob as a hairstyle. Her eyes were strikingly blue for a brunette, tear stains littered her chubby cheeks.
A small sob broke him from his staring blankly at the poor girl "hey hey, I won't hurt you, you surprised me, that's all" Henry said gently as he crouched down to the girl's level. She shrunk away as he moved downwards to his level, clutching a small parrot stuffed animal to her chest.
Henry frowned as he opened his mouth to speak, only to see the girl flinch and shrink away as if he'd stroke her. His head then snapped as he heard foot steps approaching.
Soon Will and Elizabeth appeared below deck "Henry? Where are you, love?" Elizabeth asked as she rounded the corner "oh there you a-" her voice cut off at the sight of the young girl who shrank even more and even shielded her face with her hands at the overwhelming sight of 2 more people she didn't know. "Oh heavens"
Elizabeth exclaimed softly as she walked over. Will's eyes widened and he went to stand by Henry, who stood from his crouch and shared an uneasy glance as his father. "P-please don't hurt me" the little girl stuttered again as she curled her legs under her for comfort.
Elizabeth snapped immediately into mother mode. "Oh Darlin', we won't hurt you, my name is Elizabeth, this is my husband Will, and you've met our son Henry" she said as she reached out to gently move a strand of the girl's disheveled hair out of her face, only to have her flinch again and shrink away.
Elizabeth retracted her hand and shot Will an solemn look.
" I-I'm L-Lilah" she choked out, her voice raw from crying. Elizabeth looked back at the girl and mustered up her kindest smile "nice to meet you Lilah" she said softly. Will smiled solemnly as he to crouched down to Lilah's level "Hello Lilah" he spoke gently, he was about to open his mouth again when Lilah spoke
"my parents are dead" she cried "and Hailee hasn't been back in hours, what if she's dead to!" She cried. "Hailee? Who's Hailee?" Henry asked, throwing his parents another uneasy glance. "My sister!" Lilah cried as if it were obvious
"s-she went to get food for us, but she hasn't been back in hours!" Lilah said as she sobbed and clutched her stuffed parrot to her chest. The family's eyes widened "Lilah, how about this" Elizabeth began gently as she scooted a bit closer to small brunette, relieved she didn't shrink away. "How about I stay with you, while Henry and Will go and look for your sister"
She cooed gently as she reached out to gently move a lock of her short hair out of her face. Lilah sniffed loudly as she nodded "okay" she said pitifully "Miss Elizabeth?" Lilah asked quietly.
Elizabeth looked at her and nodded, gently prodding her to continue "am I going to die?" She croaked. Will was the first to speak up "not if we can help it" he said confidently.
"We'll keep you safe, Lilah, I promise" Henry piped up as he smiled gently at the little girl, before nodding to his father. Will nodded "let's go find this, Hailee" Will said with a nod as he and Henry quickly scurried out of the ship and began searching the island for this mystery girl.

Yes yes, I know I did another cliffhanger. I just don't want to make the chapters too long. I will try not to continue that though. Anyways, hope you enjoyed!
