Hwang Hyunjin was sitting at his desk, scowling with his curtains closed, and only one lamp on. Fingers pulled at his hair as he jotted down various equations in his notebook. None of the ways he used to try to solve the problem ever made sense. The numbers just circled in his mind as they silently taunted him, stressing out the black-haired even more.
And the worst thing was that he was slowly getting used to this. Getting used to pulling all-nighters while pulling his hair out in the process just to finish his homework. Getting used to not keeping track of time. In fact, what time was it?
He knew it was way too late to text any of his friends, but there was one friend who he was sure would be up.
Bang Christopher Chan. he thought.
Ah yes, Chan. Hyunjin's best friend ever since middle school, and the person who would always listen and give advice to whatever he was dealing with, and frequently helped him with his homework. Well, when it wasn't 2 A.M. in the morning.
But it was better than nothing and Hyunjin didn't have many options to begin with, especially at this time, so why not just ask?
Hyunjin picked up his phone and texted the Australian.
Hey, you up? I'm struggling with homework and I need your help.
In a fraction of a second later, his cellphone buzzed with a notification from Chan.
Sorry mate, this isn't a good time. I have a friend who can help you, although I don't know if he'll be awake.
I'd be willing to take my chances. Hyunjin texted.
Bang Chan proceeded to send Hyunjin the number of his childhood friend, sending him off with that, and a goodnight.
See you tomorrow, Hyunjin. I hope he helps. Chan texted before eventually going offline.
Hyunjin then contacted the person that Chan had sent him, trying to think of a statement that would convince the new contact that he in fact was safe and wasn't some scammer trying to sell his information.
Hey, my friend Bang Chan gave me your number and said you could help me with homework because I was struggling. Can you help by any chance?
He retyped that explanation about 4 times before sending it.
That's when his stress began to return. He started to worry if he would come off as pushy or rude, or maybe even selfish. He really shouldn't have sent tha-
About a second later, the person replied.
Oh, cool. Yeah sure I can help. I'm Felix, by the way. Nice to meet you.
Hyunjin let out a sigh of relief. Once again, his worries were just bullying him and ended up being wrong. They were always wrong, anyway.
Nice to meet you. Are you free to call right now? he asked.
Yeah, sure. The other responded.
Hyunjin's phone rang with an incoming call from Lee Felix as he picked it up immediately.
"Hey, Felix." he greeted.
"Hey." the other replied. "So, you need help with homework?"
Hyunjin gave a nod of affirmation. "Yeah. Sorry for bothering you about this, by the way."
Felix let out a small chuckle from the other line. "Nah, it's alright. I usually stay up later than this, anyway. What do you need?"
Felix then started giving Hyunjin a small tutoring session in math, and Hyunjin even helped Felix a little with some other subjects. Nothing felt new or awkward at all between them at all. In fact, it was as if they had known each other their entire lives. The way Felix had joked, laughed, and talked honestly seemed familiar to Hyunjin, although he couldn't pin his finger on it.
"Bro, it's 4 A.M.-" Felix realized, still giggling.
"Oh, really?" Hyunjin turned to the clock on his wall, then turned back to his workbook, unknowingly pouting since he really did want to spend more time with Felix. "Well, I'm done with everything, so I guess we can get off now."
Felix let out a yawn from the other line. "Cool. So, I'll talk to you soon...wait, I didn't catch your name."
Hyunjin was a bit disappointed that the other hadn't known his name this entire time, but decided to shake it off.
"Hyunjin. My name is Hwang Hyunjin."
"Well, Hwang Hyunjin. I bet this won't be the last time I'll be seeing you."
"I hope not." he smiled, somewhat fond of the other.
"Catch you later, Hyunjin. Goodnight~" Felix sang.
"Goodnight, Felix," he said. "and thank you."
Hyunjin could picture Felix's warm smile from the other end of the line. "Yeah, anytime."
Just like that, they both hung up, and the call was over.
But Hyunjin for some reason couldn't stop smiling even after the call.
There was something about Felix that was charming to him. That made him feel happiness out of nowhere.
He hoped that this wasn't the last he would hear his voice. The voice of Lee Felix.
And I assure you, it wasn't ever going to be.

This is my first ever fanfiction on Wattpad or any platform in general, so please try and excuse any grammatical mistakes I make because I am very new to this community! I will be busy most of the time with school, but I will try to update as much as a I can. I do hope to make amazing memories here on this platform, and to improve with my writing along the way.
