Chapter 7 - The Reason

"So Hyunjin," Yoongi took a sip of his coffee before continuing. "this is going to be sad, but I don't want to sugarcoat it since that wouldn't make things any better."

Hyunjin nodded, his grip on Felix's hand tightening.

"Your mom...died. You're gonna have to stay here from now on. I know I haven't been the best dad to you all, but I've worked hard on improving myself, and I'm ready."

Hyunjin just raised an eyebrow at Yoongi for a minute, not entirely believing him.

"What do you mean? I literally saw her this morning-"

"Before she was killed," Yeji interrupted, approaching her older brother. "I saw the whole thing. It happened maybe five minutes after you left for school."

"Why didn't you do anything?!" Hyunjin rose from his chair but Felix pulled him down gently.

"I am one singular person, Hyunjin." she gritted her teeth. "Do you seriously think I could've faced, what, seven guys without getting killed myself?"

Hyunjin's head drooped as he faced the ground. This was all happening too fast and too soon. He met the person who he liked just to lose someone he loved. 

"Anyways, get Ni-Ki." Yoongi ordered. "He doesn't know the news yet, so I brought Jungwon in case he gets emotional."

Hyunjin silently obliged, getting up from his chair and heading upstairs.

"So, Felix, how has Hyunjin been?" the elder asked once Hyunjin left, his concentration turning to the blonde.

"Oh, he's good." Felix replied, a little caught off-guard by the sudden question.

Yoongi smiled. "That's good to hear. I'm happy to know that Hyunjin has someone like you."

"Thank you, Mr. Min." Felix bowed.

"Please, call me Yoongi. All of my friends do."

Hyunjin stepped outside the door and lightly knocked, getting no response.

He opened the door slowly, curious as to what was going on.

He then sees Jungwon back-hugging Ni-Ki tightly, as the younger smiled widely in response.

"Uhm, guys?" Hyunjin blurted out, turning the heads of the two as they quickly pushed each other away.

"Tell dad or Yeji, and you're dead." Ni-Ki threatened, holding onto Jungwon's hand.

"Hey I don't judge, okay? Dad wants you both downstairs." 

The two looked at each other before hopping off Ni-Ki's bed, still holding hands.

Aw, cute. Hyunjin thought slyly. 

When the three (Hyunjin was third-wheeling at this point) got downstairs, Yoongi cut right to the chase. 

"Okay Ni-Ki, your mother was murdered this morning. You're gonna have to stay here." 

Ni-Ki just blinked aggressively at him.

"Hold on, back it up, you're telling me that mom was murdered? Hah, is this some sort of joke?"

Yoongi dryly laughed. "Your siblings wish it was."

Ni-Ki stared at Yoongi, then at Yeji, then Hyunjin. Tears started to prickle in the sides of his eyes.

He leaned into Jungwon, then hugged him, his tears falling down.

"Shh..it's okay, Ni-Ki. It's okay." Jungwon said, soothing the younger.

"She was all I had..." the golden-haired boy sniffled.

"Hey, what abo-" Yeji's objection was cut short by Yoongi clapping his hand over her mouth.

"Shut up. Let Jungwon help him."

"You have me, Ni-Ki," the brown-haired teenager smiled, pulling away from the boy to look him straight in the eyes. "right?"

Ni-Ki nodded, then proceeded to pull Jungwon into another hug.

"Thank you, Jungwon..." he whispered. "I love you." 

Jungwon's eyes grew wide in shock as well as everyone else's in the room.

"I..." he started. "I love you too, Ni-Ki." 

"Oi. Boys, take this upstairs, will you?" Yoongi cringed.

"You don't mind...this?" Jungwon questioned, baffled.

"Well, as long as Ni-Ki's happy, I'm fine with it. Even if he is still young."

The two middle schoolers stared at each other in pure joy.

"Thank you, dad." Ni-Ki flashed Yoongi a smile before taking Jungwon's hand and running upstairs.

I AM SO SORRY I HAVEN'T BEEN UPLOADING! i've been so busy with school and stuff, so i never could find time to write.

also, if you're confused as to why their mom was murdered, i have a whole story coming up on that, so yay.
